I wish we had this kind of school alert system. I heard that some of the schools here are using it already. This is a great way to get the message across everyone and it’s fast too. Remember this is a mass notification from the school itself so there are no chances of confusion here. Based on my experience mass notification coming from everyone else is confusing, by the time the messages get to you, it is already distorted. I would like to receive these official alerts coming from the school authorities itself.

I was really thinking of having custom rubber stamps made for the kids. Instead of having name tags printed year after year for their books and notebooks, it could have saved me some money. Come to think of it, you only have this made once and it can go a long way. Talk about saving, this is a good one! I can also use it with some other stuff, not just for text books in school. I can also use it for my daughter’s personal book collection. She is fond of lending books to her friends, so it’s better if she has her name stamped on it.

The kids were suppose to go back to school on the 5th. Then it was moved to 12th, now it’s moved to the 17th. What? “The construction for the college is not done yet”, said my daughter. This happened last school year too. My boy started school last week of June, can you believe that? I don’t understand why they still haven’t finished the construction until now. They could have gone overtime on this. Now the students are sufferring. Learning would be quite fast paced. What will happen to students who can’t cope up with the situation? Let’s face it, not all students has the capacity to absorb everything in so short a time. Teachers will cram just to be able to follow the curriculum on schedule. Why can’t the school officials be sensitive on this matter?
Kids are happy over the extended vacation, my children included. Another 2 weeks break is just big time for them. And why not? They find studying in that school quite stressful, now double that because of the extended break.

Being educated in America is quite a big deal. Even my daughter has that kind of thinking. Well I can’t blame her really, because I’ve been telling her that. Now she wants to study there after she finishes high school. But the problem is, I don’t think the daddy is going to allow her. That’s the thing with having only two kids, it’s so hard to send them away. Their dad is opposed to this idea, and I think it is non-negotiable. So if my daughter really wants to graduate from an American university, then I would look into capella university. Capella University is an accredited online university that offers graduate online degree programs, as well as a bachelor’s degree programs. It currently serves more or less 20,000 students from 50 states and 56 countries. It is also accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. For more information, you can go to their website.

Not everyone is blessed with writing skills. I remember way back in college when we did our thesis, we always ended up arguing trying to figure out the correct use of grammar in our sentences. Average age of student at capella university is 40. Well this really caught my attention. I thought I was too old to go back to school, but hey look! Capella University is a fully online university meaning you can access your Capella courseroom using internet connection. They offer graduate online degree programs in business, information technology, education, public health, psychology, etc. I’m interested in taking a second course which is education. Had my parents permitted me to shift course back in college, I could have been a teacher or a professor by now. Well it’s not too late. This is what I like with online universities, I can access my courseroom just with an internet connection at my own time. Well with this, I can still have time for the family if ever I decide to pursue it.

A lot of my friends are thinking of letting their children take up Nursing. And why not, this is the in demand career now and one of the highest paying jobs there is. There are just lots of opportunities for graduates of Nursing anywhere in the world. I was asking my daughter if she wants to take up Nursing for college and we are even willing to send her to this School of Nursing if ever she decides. She says she wants to work overseas when the time comes. So we thought, why not send her overseas for college, so we will be able to save, rather than have her enrolled here, and then she has to take some qualifying exams to be able to work overseas. I thought of sending her to that school since I have a relative who stays in that area and he can actually act as guardian. That way we would worry less knowing that someone can look after her.

When my boy got home from school the other day, this is what he said when he saw me. “Mom, please don’t blog about me anymore.” Apparently, a classmate has been reading my blog. She teased my son about the “tub pictures” she saw in my blog which I posted a year ago. He was embarrassed to the max. And he’s making me delete it. It sucks having to limit yourself to the kinds of posts you will be doing, and I kinda hate it. But then again, I guess it’s time. I have to pick less embarrassing stories to tell about the kids, since they are in this awkward stage.

It sucks big time when I lose connection while doing research for school projects of my kids. I get irritated and frustrated, especially if I needed to do it right away. So my solution was to go to a nearby software store, bought this britannica ^_^. It’s cool, now I don’t need to stress myself whenever I lose connection. The encyclopedia we have over at my mom’s place is already obsolete, and I don’t want to buy new encylopedia, e-encyclopedia(is it called this?) is the in thing right now, and way cheaper. To a smooth-sailing research, yeehaa!

How ironic, I couldn’t find a family picture with all of us having camera eye contact, so I had to do this in a rush using photoshop. This is the family picture my son submitted as part of his HELE project. I’m not good with Photoshop yet, but with this kind of project requiring the use of photoshop, I think I can get by. IMO, I did a good job. ^_^ Start of the week was really toxic, I had to help Josh do 2 HELE projects, while his Library Research Report is also due. Thanks to the on-off internet connection, it takes a while to do research….haaaayyy =(

Our driver is still sick. He didn’t come to work since Monday. N’s the one bringing the kids to school in the morning, and I’m the one bringing them food for lunch. No, this time I’m not the one cooking. I just can’t wake up that early anymore to be able to prepare the food. Nights have been spent researching for the Library Research Report of my son, teaching the kids with their assignments, doing sponsored posts, answering emails and a little bloghopping. 24 hours is just not enough. Internet connection has been acting up for the last couple of days too, that I had to wait til one in the morning. Thank God, kids don’t have classes tomorrow in honor of the birthday of Confucious. I’m gonna sit my butt out tonight and try to beat the deadline.
This is what I have been doing while waiting for the kids’ dismissal. I started this a couple of months back and have not touched it really since I started doing paid posts. Haha, I’m almost done with the other cup. The question is, when can I finish it? It’s only when I wait for the kids that I feel like doing it, since there is no internet cafe near the school where I can spend my waiting time. ^_^ I can’t go home either, I need to save on gas, school is like 4-5 kilometer away from our house.
**I think I’ve put on some weight. All we do is eat and eat while waiting for the dismissal. Imagine stuffing my mouth for 8 hrs, yes that’s how long we wait for them. Maybe that’s the reason why I have plenty zits too, I eat too much junk food!**

This is the work of Josh. He always tells me, it’s better to get zero than make something that looks like a grade one work! I keep on telling him that it’s pretty, but he does not believe me. It’s always at the back of his mind what the teacher often tells her students, “grade one work!” I already spoke with the teacher about this during the PTC, and she says she knows how to handle Josh now. My son is quite a perfectionist, so he gets frustrated when somebody has a “bad” comment on his work.
What do you think about his work? That’s his interpretation of the Boracay Sunset…although he hasn’t been there yet!

The report cards were released the other day, but Josh was not given his, instead I got a “love letter” from his class adviser requesting us to go see the HELE (Home Economics) teacher. So I went to the AV Room yesterday and talked with the teacher. He did not pass 1 project so he got a grade of 0, making his grade in the report card 68, yes for the first time, a red mark. The teacher claimed that she sent a warning slip, to which I asked, how come I did not get any? She showed me the copies but could not provide her duplicate copy of the slip she was suppose to give my son. I really didn’t have time to argue with her as I was in a hurry to leave for a meeting. There will be a PTC tomorrow, and I’m still not resting my case.
Now he can’t be in the top 10, even if his average is 90.4 because of that damn HELE. First time since he started school. I am sad and disappointed, but what can I do?
Ish on the other hand got her report card too. Yep, I’m quite disappointed with her grades too, but encouraged her to concentrate more. It’s hard raising up teenagers, seems like a lot is getting in their way when it comes to their studies, they are not as focused anymore. I don’t like to pressure them either, but at the same time I am disappointed when they fall short of my expectations…what now?

I have been very picky when it comes to hiring a tutor for my children. I don’t like my money put to waste getting the wrong tutor. Here’s a website that provides ideal Innovative Tutor. Their staff make sure that your children will have fun while learning. Isn’t it that most children treat learning or studying boring? But these tutors will make your children look forward to studying. It’s the kind of motivation they give your children that make them excel. Bringing your kids to Score lets them study the right way. I believe that every student should have very good study habits in order to cope up with their studies.

It started with a bumper to bumper traffic at 6:15 in the morning. Traffic was rerouted to give way to the new condo located within the same vicinity. It’s my son’s first day of school. For those wondering why only now (schools in the Philippines normally open in June), well the school decided to add another floor in the elementary wing and they started construction in May. Duh! As if adding 1 floor takes only a month to construct. Classes in the elementary levels were moved to June 26 and 27 instead of June 9. Oh well!Come lunch time. I can’t even see and locate my children. They were stuck in “human traffic”, no bad connotation here ^_^ ok? 20 minutes of their lunch break was consumed in pure chaos. Ish didn’t like the ampalaya con carne (beef slices with bitter gourd) I cooked, she said it was bitter. Duh! Who says ampalaya is sweet *roll eyes*. Josh did not complain, probably he was too hungry, it was already past 1 in the afternoon.
Late afternoon was still pure chaos…double the chaos during lunch break…all levels dismissed at the same time. Can you imagine that…a prospect for stampede.
I hope the school will do something about this, as I saw some school authorities observing.
Now i’m doubly tired too…it’s zzzzzzzzzzz for me…good night ya all ^_^
