Ahem, it’s Final

Posted by girlie on May 3, 2008

Photobucket

I know I said in this post that it’s final (please check post so you would see the difference between the 2 stitches). I lied! Haha, lie in the sense that I did it once more from the top. Jen left a comment in that particular entry and KC shared a website about knitting via twitter. That’s where I found out that stockinette stitch (1 knit and 1 purl) is not suited for a scarf. Of course nobody would want to wear a scarf that looks like a sock, harhar. I know I spent much time doing the stockinette (around 1 foot in length), I don’t have any regrets doing it all over again this time with a garter stitch. Now the project looks neater, every inch a scarf, ahem! Ooops, this is my blog, I can praise my work anytime, heehee.

Lucky Me

Posted by girlie on May 2, 2008

Photobucket   Nah, not the noodles, I am lucky. I was able to buy this comforters at 50 percent off. Instead of paying P22,000 for all four, I paid only a little under P11,000. We really need new ones. The last time I bought was 5 years ago, imagine 5 years ago. The comforters we have are all faded already, and so soft, evidence of it’s wear and tear. Haha, why do I keep on justifying my purchase? Oh, these are not 100% cotton, but it’s soft anyway and as long as it does not give an itch, I don’t mind. I have to make do with what we can afford.

This is Final…

Photobucket

Photobucket I know, I started a project a few days ago, (olive green and khaki) I think I posted it here. Nope I have not finished it but I discarded it. It looked so wrong, coz I didn’t start it right. Am not saying that this blue and white one was done correctly, lemme remind you that I am new to knitting (haha ang sungit!) I have a problem with it though, it curls on the side, even if I knitted loosely it still happened. For now I don’t know the solution to this, maybe washing and ironing? But do we iron yarn material? No idea! Whether I did it right or wrong I couldn’t care less, I wanna see a finished project. Nope I’m not gonna wear that in the tropics, I’m doing it for my nieces and sisters in America. Now anyone of you want one? I’ll make you one provided you put my link in your blogs, haha how desperate. I’m just kidding so no one should take on that offer! Baboo!

Things I Love to Do

Posted by girlie on April 30, 2008

Photobucket I was suppose to teach the the chairman’s bet for Miss Sta. Ana a belly dancing routine to be used for the talent portion. I was able to teach her the intro only, then she suddenly gave up. I can see that she has the grace to dance, but since she is new to belly dancing, she was quite unsure on what to do plus the fact that she was not really confident in what she was doing. But I think she can learn it if only she takes away the awkwardness and shyness. Anyway, we ended up having a photo shoot instead. I wanted to find out if she registers well in pictures. And since Cuz was already there together with her daughter Queenie, I took the opportunity to shoot them as well. I want her back, this time with curly hair, I believe I can do more, and of course with a little makeup. She was like bare when we did this shoot. You can see me in action here.

While Waiting

Posted by girlie on April 28, 2008

Photobucket   I know I’m addicted…I always bring it with me. Like last Thursday when we went to Greenhills to accompany hubby to a client call, this is what I did, over a cup of ice cream. I had to get some ice cream because I couldn’t sit in the cafe without getting something. I was able to add a few layers, now it looks like a bag already even without the handle. I don’t know when I will be able to finish this project since I started going into knitting. I find it more fun to knit, probably because I am new to it. So now you know why I got lots and lots of yarns. My first knitting project would be a scarf. I know I can’t use it here. But this is the easiest for a novice like me. I can always give it away anytime you know.

TV Stint

Posted by girlie on April 27, 2008

The episode in Day Off was shown yesterday. Haha I was excited to watch myself on telly. Yeah really. I even recorded it so I will be able to post it in my blog. Well I’m posting it so my friends and relatives who missed it can finally watch it. Darn, I could have smiled more, I would have looked good all throughout the show. But as what hubby says all the time, it would really show what you are, and in my case, I’m formal, and a bit of a snub. I dunno, I get tired smiling all the time, maybe I need more practice. I will be posting the episode in small parts so you guys will not have to wait long. So here’s the first part. Enjoy!

*Day Off is a television show shown every Saturday over at QTV hosted by Carmina Villaroel and Pekto. In this episode, my belly dancing teacher was given a day off and it was Pekto who took over the class. We had to teach him a little basic of belly dancing before the start of the class.

Painting Her Nails

Posted by girlie on April 26, 2008

Photobucket The darling doll is having the time of her life with these. You see she is only allowed to put this on when there’s no school. The school does not allow it, well any school for that matter won’t anyway. She has to wait til college (2 years from now). Gosh my darling doll has grown into a fine lady, how time flies. She now knows how to put eyeliner too. I gave her the black eyeliner with a little glitters I just recently bought from The Face Shop. It fits her and she’s pretty in it. Her Dad even noticed it, and said it’s pretty. Now what’s next? Makeup? Nah, I think she is too young to be painting her face, LOL.

Getting Organized

Posted by girlie on April 25, 2008

Photobucket   I saw this over at the dance studio. Hmmm, I think I want one! My bags need to breathe. It has suffered too much from the heat we have now, plus the fact that it gets very dusty to where it used to be. Hhmmp, when will the diggings ever stop, huh Maynilad? When I placed it in our room, it wasn’t pleasing to the eyes. Oh never mind, as long as the bags will be in better condition.

Photobucket   Why can’t I get enough of bags? Ah I am a woman afterall. And there’s more than enough space to fill some more, yehey!

Shopping Bag Project

Posted by girlie on April 23, 2008

Photobucket Wahoo it’s taking form, now does it look like a bag already? Yeah I’m making a bag. Haha I can’t quite make up my mind. All right, I know I said that I was gonna make a table runner, and what happened to the table runner? I thought I’d convert it to a placemat instead because I didn’t have enough yarn. But while looking for projects online, I came across this shopping bag. Hey, I’d rather do a shopping bag, I can use it to stuff all the yarns and hooks I’m going to get in the future.

Wonderful Time

Posted by girlie on April 20, 2008

Photobucket   We went to Subic for a wedding coverage yesterday. I had fun taking some pictures on the side. While N was working, I was busy too taking pix. Haha, don’t get me wrong, that’s not all I did, of course I worked too, hehe. Anyways, so as not to be bored on our way there (a little above 2 hours) I brought with me a book and of course my crochet project. I did some progress on both actually. Hopefully I get to finish both in no time, haha as if I’m not too busy doing ehem, oh well. At least I don’t get bored because I have a lot to do once I get bored with one.

Bond With Me

Posted by girlie on April 19, 2008

Photobucket We have not gone out for quite a long time already, well last was on Good Friday. And that is a long time, compared to the once a week bonding we’ve had a couple of years back. Haha, ever since I’ve been doing you know what, (LOL) I’ve been tied in front of this laptop, glued to the chair. But last Thursday, we found time to see each other together with the kids. We ate at Teriyaki Boy, bought footwear (I swear I was not suppose to buy really but something happened to my sandals), spent time at The Face Shop where I got free nail color…I mean I applied nail color using the samples, hehe. I bought falsies again, this time the thicker one, I have not tried it though, but will be using it later when we go to Subic for a wedding coverage. It was nice bonding with you Cuz. Thanks for the jeans!

And the Reward is…

Yeah it’s the salad again, but this time with a twist, nope not a lemon twist, but I added grilled chicken strips this time. Pardon me but I know how to make just this kind of salad only, and this is what the family eats. Sometimes it’s all veggies, like I add cherry tomatoes and carrots, but since the kids are not really big fan of veggies, I decided to add fruits.

We are putting a kid on a diet, so you’ll be seeing the same salad over and over again, hehe. So far, so good. He finished everything I prepared for him. He didn’t ask for a midnight snack. See he is determined, or is it that he’s only after the reward, like what happened here, #2. His dad promised to get him PS3 if he goes down to 120 lbs…goolay long way to go, like 25 lbs. to shed.

What? Midnight Snack?

Posted by girlie on April 15, 2008

Photobucket   We had Arroz Caldo (Porridge) for dinner, I had a bowl, while he had a bowl and a half. But come 1 am, he went to the room and ask me to join him for midnight snack. I offered him a biscuit, but he had something else in mind. So we went down and each had a bowl of cereals (cinnamon toast), yum! We were both satisfied, ahem. When we were about to go to sleep, we talked about eating healthy. I discussed with him the food pyramid, hehe. Today at lunch, he had salad, chicken and a small amount of rice. He asked if he ate healthy. I hope he’ll continue eating healthy, I’m scared about his weight.

Skin Care Tool

Posted by girlie on April 13, 2008

Photobucket  I bought this skin care tool designed to extract blackheads and whiteheads.  I bought this specifically for Ish, she has a lot of whiteheads and blackheads on her nose.  I don’t think she can have facials as early as now, she’s only 14 years old.  What I do, I wet a face towel with warm water and place it for like 3 minutes on her nose, to soften and moisten the skin.  After which I start removing gently the whiteheads and blackheads.  So far I did well.  It’s not all gone, but at least it was minimized.  I don’t want to be rough on her skin, I’m just scared.  I might end up ruining her face.

Bad Hair Day

Posted by girlie on April 12, 2008

bhd.jpg Bad hair day(s)…that’s what I’m having now. I hate it coz I can’t go wash and wear. Last night I started another DIY thingie again. It’s cellophane this time, and I was advised by a friend to do it on a weekly basis. I hate the smell though, but for my hair to get back in shape, I have to endure it. I hope it really works, coz it did to my friend’s hair. Maybe in between I have to do some hot oil treatment too. I don’t like to blow dry nor iron my hair everyday.

Counting the Days

Posted by girlie on April 11, 2008

Four more days to go, my “angel” will be back. It’s so hard to have only 1 helper at home, although we have 2 ladies coming over once a week to wash and iron the clothes. The one who’s gone for a vacation is my very able yaya (nanny), it’s so hard when she is not around. I can’t go anywhere, heehee. I need to be at home all the time, because nobody would look after my kids. Not that the one left behind can’t do the task, but I am just used to my yaya who has been with us for 15 years already. I was pregnant with my first child when I got her. She took care of my two kids, and they really love her. We miss her already. I hope she won’t extend her vacation, because my other helper is due to have her vacation too. Arrrggghhh, 1 helper in the house again when she gets back. Good thing it’s summer vacation, it would have been harder if there were classes.

Are You Kidding?

Posted by girlie on April 9, 2008

I got so excited when I login to my account, wow more than 20 offers….good…NOT!  With the more than 20 offers, I was not even qualified to grab one, can you believe that?  Everytime I click on accept, it gives an error…really huh.  What is that, for display only?  Yeah tell me about it.  So what are you trying to project?  There are still a lot of advertisers who go to you?  Or you want to make it appear that you are still in the running?  What? What?  I really do not understand, please tell me.

Weight Gain ;p

Posted by girlie on April 6, 2008

Photobucket I am not happy about it (but I look happy in the pic, harhar). I gained 6 lbs, and it all went to the wrong place…the tummy, grrrrrr! It was my teacher in belly dancing class who noticed it. Well actually it was me who first noticed it. Yeah you can’t see it, that’s what I love about the top I was wearing, I can still smile despite having a big bulge, no not pregnant huh.   I think the weight gain started when Ish my daughter was away.  We were always eating out, because we were depressed that she was not here.  Yikes I should not get depressed often, coz this will be the result.

Cleaner Air

Posted by girlie on April 5, 2008

There was a time I needed air cleaner purifier at home because the kids had asthma. Yeah we have a family history, in fact I had asthma too when I was growing up until the time I got married. When my friend learned about the kids having asthma, she recommended having an air purifier at home. As we all know, air purifiers remove allergens and pollutants from the air. I think whether or not someone in the house is suffering from asthma, every house should have an air purifier. It helps eliminate bad odor, and isn’t it nice to be breathing cleaner air?

Marriage Fitness

Posted by girlie on March 29, 2008

When I came across this Marriage Family Counselor, I was quite intrigued. He has an alternative for marriage counseling and he calls it marriage fitness. He says that it is an innovative step-by-step relationship-changing system that will save and restore marriages. It’s not like the typical counseling you get when you go for one. Here he talks about having positive relationship habits that will give a total turn around to your once happy marriage. He shares some techniques on how not to dig into the past which I believe is common when misunderstanding occurs between husbands and wives.

He’s got a different Marriage Retreat too. Instead of going somewhere, it’s actually held at home. I like the topics covered in this marriage retreat namely, dwelling in the past, how to get over old hurt, how to deal with a stubborn spouse, how to restore trust, how to restore romance and a lot more. Come to think of it these are the reasons why marriages turn sour. I would be glad to be taught how these problems can be resolved. Have you ever thought that out of stubborness and anger comes pride? And when pride takes over, you believe only in what you think. There has to be someone else to knock you off before you go back to your senses. That has to be Marriage Family Counseling ala Mort Fertel. Actually it’s not only for those whose marriages are about to break, but I believe that it is also important for every couple to be aware of all those how tos. The good thing about this Fertel guy is that his type of counseling works even if only one spouse is doing it. By the way, this guy offers free advice tips on how to save your marriage.

My Cousins

Posted by girlie on March 28, 2008

Photobucket Seated L-R: Idith, Arlene, Aleli. Standing L-R: Moi, Lecil, Leah, Gladys. They are my beautiful cousins. Lecil, Idith and Gladys are sisters and they are here for a brief vacation. They were here last year but I hardly spent time with them. I’m thankful that we were able to spend time, and was able to catch up on each other. Oh, did you notice something in the picture?

Almost!

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket Because of that damn 68, he did not get a medal.  Yeah, in  Home Economics,  just because he didn’t submit 1 project.  Oh well, lessons are learned the hard way.  Major and Minor is not to be taken forgranted and I’ve told him that already. I hope when he is in high school, he will still be able to maintain his grades, but as it is, seems like he does not concentrate as much when he was in the lower grades. He’d always tell me, “Mom, loosen up, I can do it” and I always remind him that he can do more. I think I need to bring back the policy of NO TV and NO playing of VID GAMES during school days.

Nail Art

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket I’ve been doing my own nailart for a couple of years now. I was once keen on doing it really that I change nail art almost every week. Then all of a sudden I lost interest. I didn’t want to paint my nails anymore. I tried doing it once but I am just too lazy doing it again. I’ve been painting my nails for about a month anlready but sans the art. When I went to Face Shop, I saw nice cutie nail stickers, I bought 2 sets and I’m gonna try using it. I also found a nice color of polish which is dark brown. I hope I am not too lazy today to do it. I really ? nail art!

Contouring Surgery

Posted by girlie on March 27, 2008

Well I don’t have anything against cosmetic surgery vaginal. If that can make a woman happy and if it’s really necessary then why not! There are a lot of reasons why woman wants to go for that certain surgery. And I respect them for that. Take for example labiaplasty, a woman with enlarged labia can feel a certain discomfort and pain. Others do it for aesthetic reasons. Come to think of it, it’s really ugly seeing sort of a protrusion when wearing a certain type of clothing. I wouldn’t want that ugly sight too. And there is only one way you can get rid of it, it’s by undergoing labiaplasty. A recontouring would be nice, agree? Of course you do, every woman wants to have the perfect look.

Day Off

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket This picture was taken last Monday. We (me and Faye) were tasked by Teacher Gladys to teach Pecto ( one of the hosts of QTV’s Day Off) the basic moves of belly dancing. I didn’t know that it will be televised, had I known I would have backed off. Well partly I did, but I thought that the one that will be televised was us in the background as students of Pecto. Anyway I can’t do anything about it, so I just enjoyed myself. Teacher really had her day off that day. I don’t have any idea where the people of the show brought her, I have to wait until the episode is shown. I think the idea of the show “Day Off” is really to give day off to employees/workers. The show’s hosts will take their place, something like that. Then they will be treated with a few luxuries, well I don’t know, have to watch the show to have an idea.
