No Flat Screen for Her Yet

Posted by girlie on June 19, 2010

Her room is quite spacious but since she’s been bringing in a lot of stuff (me too), the room seems to be smaller now. It’s like I need to install this flat panel mount in the future. In the future because we haven’t gotten her a flat screen yet. Her brother got one for his birthday I think and she hasn’t expressed any desire to have one herself. She’s so contented with the television set that she has now but I know it won’t take long for her to wish a flat screen tv. She is just waiting for the right occasion, on her 18th birthday perhaps?

Pizza and Ice Cream

Photobucket That was what she asked for when she came home from her 4 day retreat. Apparently she was starved and needed her comfort food. Funny how she was sending me SMS that she misses my cooking already and she does not like what was served to them since day one. So as requested, we went straight to Mall of Asia after we fetched her from school, and yes we gave her what she asked for. It was a great bonding moment for the family.

Photobucket I allowed both my kids to help in their school’s relief operation. They went on separate dates though and each of them have their own stories to tell. I admit, I was quite worried at first because they are not really used to this. I “sheltered” them to the point that they don’t really know what’s happening outside our home. Good thing they both found it fun to be out there. My son felt that he was really “special” but that didn’t deter him to mingle with other people, in fact he wants to go again and help in the school’s relief efforts. Ish on the other hand have a soft spot for kids. The first thing she told me was that “I love the kids Mom, one even wanted to go with us. I am just too happy that I allowed them to go even if someone was really hesitant at first. It opened their eyes and saw the big picture, that not everyone is materially blessed, and that there will never be a room for complaints inside our home.

Growth Issues

Human growth hormones…you are needed in the Vee family. I am not saying that one in the family has human growth disorder. Oh did I just say that? Seriously Ish would really be interested in finding out what the best hgh is. Of course she wants her “height” problem solved. I think I will need it too, not for height or anything but aging and weight management, oh don’t forget the skin too. See I told you, it is really needed in the Vee family.

Preparing for College

Posted by girlie on January 28, 2009

My daughter showed me last night a school circular requiring them to review for college entrance this summer. I am just really hoping that her school can provide what this SAT Test Prep gives. Aside from the fact that they help students go about these various assessment tests, they also teach time management skills and will share some test taking tips and strategies. They provide practice testing so that they can pinpoint the students’ strengths and weaknesses. I also read that they are teaching students some methods on how to overcome test taking anxiety. This is really very important because if anxiety sets in, even if a child is capable of passing the tests, he won’t be able to make it. Well that is just my opinion. One can forget something if he gets jittery and all.
