Funny & Cute

Posted by girlie on August 26, 2007

sun.JPGConversations such as this occur when I’m the one behind the wheels, and I just can’t help but laugh ^_^

Josh: Mom, how big is our family? (him referring to the V family)
Me: Your dad has 2 brothers, and 3 sisters…
Josh: Lolo(grandpa) must have abused Mama(grandma)
Me: **Gasp** And why do you say that?
Josh: well 5 kids, eh us 2 kids only…
Me: What if I have another baby?
Josh: Nooooooooooo
Me: and why not?
Josh: I’ll get jealous! All your attention will be on the baby.
Me: Of course not, I play fair.
Josh: **quiet**
Me: And why are you quiet?
Josh: I was thinking that if you have a baby again, I’ll just leave and stay with Lolo.
Ate (nanny): Di na pwede mag anak si Mommy Josh (Your mom can’t have another baby)
Josh: And why not?
Me: well i’m old to have a baby.
Josh: what about Isaac and Sarah?
Me: *started laughing** What about?
Josh: Sarah was already old when she had a baby

**Conversation ended here…time for church**

Feminine Color

Posted by girlie on August 23, 2007

dsc00263.JPGI don’t normally go for bloody red nail polish, but then I thought I could use some color to go with my gown during the birthday celebration of my FIL. So when we went to have our hair done at Salon de Manila, I decided to have my nails done too. Isha was soooo envious and wanted hers done too. But to achieve it, she needed fakies, bwaaaahhh. Anyways, I chose blardy red, at that time I found it sexy. But when I got home, guess who made the 1st comment? It was my son Josh. He said something like, “Hey Mom, I don’t like the color of your nails…you could have used a more feminine color, say “fenk” (pink).” Heehee, that’s how we say pink in this household - “fenk”, and it tickles us “fenk” whenever we say that word!

While Waiting

Posted by girlie on

08182007192.jpg Our eldest daughter Isha who’s turning 14 on the 28th asked permission from us if she could chill out with her friends at the Power Plant. We dread for this day to come, really! We’ve been talking about this, and we can’t accept the fact that our lil girl has already grown. Well we permitted her of course, and it has always been the rule that she can’t go with her friends without us in tow or her nanny. It’s not that we don’t trust her, but more for her safety and security. Times are hard nowadays, and we just feel that at a young age, she can’t still handle it.

So what do we do while waiting for her? We had our own bonding time too, had coffee and pastries at UCC. We talked about our kids, how they’ve grown in so little time, ways on how to handle them, etc.

15th Year

Posted by girlie on August 22, 2007

marryaugusta1.gifIt seemed like only yesterday when I walked down the aisle, August 22, 1992 to be exact, gosh it’s been 15 years…and still counting. Funny how I couldn’t really remember anything that happened on that day except for one thing. While walking down the aisle, I saw empty pews, and I was like, oh no! nobody attended my wedding. And before I know it, the next time I looked, it was almost full. I think I was teary eyed…oh never mind…don’t want to get mushy here ^_^

Anyway, it’s been 15 years! We’ve had our share of ups and downs like everyone else, but i’m glad we’ve survived with God’s wonderful grace. Now we have 2 wonderful kids, Isha and Josh (heehee as if you don’t know), and we are striving on having a God centered happy family. I got 3 red roses from N and I like what he wrote in the card…”I’m very thankful to God because we are now 15 years together. I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you. ‘Til death do us part”.

The Celebration

Posted by girlie on August 19, 2007

It was a successful celebration! Despite the heavy rains (read:floods) 90 percent of the guests came, and it only shows that the man of the hour is well loved by his family and friends. It was held at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Manila Peninsula. They said food was great (I couldn’t really taste it as I was still excited), we were entertained by the Bernie Pasamba String Quartet, with Jenny and Austin (our favorite singers), Aicelle Santos, 1st Runner-up and Gerald Santos, champion of GMA’s Pinoy Pop Superstars (they are the reason why we went to SOP), we also gave a special dance number (me, Ish, Teacher Gladys and Rica), and a lion dance to remember FIL’s heritage. Cash and jewelries were raffled off to the delight of the guests.

.:: My Darling Girl is Sick ::.

Posted by girlie on July 26, 2007

2 days ago, Isha requested our driver if he could bring her home right away coz she was not feeling well. She had a headache caused by colds. The moment she got home, she went straight to bed and fell asleep. We just woke her up to have dinner. I asked her if she was going to school the following day, to which she said yes, anyway she didn’t have fever, and she had some quizzes to take. Before she left for school, I checked if she was running a fever, which she was not, so I allowed her to go to school. I was surprised to get a call from her that afternoon, that she was already on her way home, she was sent home by the school. Her yaya (nanny) fetched her coz we had the driver with us. They were not able to hail a cab, so they took the public transportation. When I got home, I asked her if she remembered how to take the public transpo (this was her first actually), to which she replied, “nope, I was too sick to remember anything”. Haha, good answer! You see there’s this running joke in the family about taking public transpo, not that I don’t like them to ride the jeepney or commute, in fact I want them to learn taking the jeep or bus.Anyhoo, she was absent from class today. We got a call from the office confirming if she was indeed sick. This is really weird, this was the 1st time we got a call from them. They’ve been with that school for 10 years already. On with the story. When we got home from school, finding his sister in his room, Josh gave her a bear hug. Hhhhmmmm, he’s sweet, NOT! Do you know why he hugged his sister? He wants to catch the bug, so he won’t be able to go to school and just use the internet the whole day. Yes, that’s my darling boy!

Ish is quite well already and she’ll go to school tomorrow, though she still has colds and cough.

.:: Crocs For Him ::.

Posted by girlie on July 24, 2007

I accompanied and drove N to Promenade in Greehills to get him a pair of Crocs. Nope he still can’t wear shoes and we have a coverage at Makati Shangri-la Hotel later today. It’s just not appropriate for him to be wearing his Havaianas, so I suggested that he’ll wear Crocs instead. He finds it a bit weird, because of the width, and he said he feels like a dishwasher…hhhhmmm…which gives me an idea, if they made me the official cook, why not make him the official dishwasher! ^_^

Two weeks ago, N got wounded from our stainless gate. While he was closing the gate, it accidentally scraped his heel. I was not there when it happened, nor was the family driver. So he took the cab to go to the nearest hospital. He had 13 stitches all in all. The doctors advised him to stay put for at least 3 days so the wound will not open up. I’ve been bathing him since then so as to avoid the wound getting wet. I know I could have used 3M’s Tegaderm, but I had a supply of gauze and plasters at home. It took me a long time to dress the wound for the first 3 days, the gauze was just sticking to the wounded area, and I just can’t pull it just like that. Now he’s ok, the doctors have removed the stitches and the wound has dried up a bit. But I’m still giving him a bath and cleaning the wound, maybe if it has completely dried up, then he can bathe himself already. Last night I was able to give him a pedicure already. Yeah N is spoiled…by ME!

He Says I’m a SuperMom

Posted by girlie on July 2, 2007

Nelson’s all praises, he says i’m a super mom! Having to wake up at 5 in the morning, assist the kids as they prepare for school, bring them to school, come home to prepare food for lunch, bring lunch to school, come home to cook dinner, be at school by 4 in the afternoon to fetch them and bring them to their chinese tutor. Well, that has been my life for 10 days now. I thought I couldn’t manage just by the thought of it, I thought i’m gonna lose some weight, but heck no! in fact I think I’ve added a pound or two, I thought I wouldn’t have time to blog, but here I am posting at least every other day ^_^ I think it’s just proper time management, and how you look at things. I did not do all these with a heavy heart, but of course I’m counting the days until my “angels” arrive, and it seems like eternity already, harhar!The joys of being a mother…

I think I know the reason why I am enjoying right now despite not having my 2 yayas (nanny) with me. I don’t really know how to cook (filipino dishes), yeah sue me…and I will bribe you with pasta dishes and cookies. Those are my two specialties. But I tried my best really with the aid of a cookbook (3 different ones) and the internet and of course my Mom. I was able to whip some “gourmet” treats to feed the family. I call it treats because I cook only on special occassions like Christmas and New Year. My kids including N enjoyed everything I prepared for them, I got never ending “Mom, it really really tastes good! Can you cook it again next week?” Of course hearing all these, I couldn’t help but feel elated! Yes, I’m flying high! … and will be flying low soon…the bottomline, they want me to be the official cook in this house! Bwaaaaaahhhhhh…. ^_^

Do You Need To Remind Me?

Posted by girlie on April 21, 2007

Joshua’s yaya (nanny) is on a 2-week vacation. He attempted to sleep by himself on the 1st night but to no avail. He ended up sleeping at 5 in the morning. So we asked him if he wanted to sleep in our room. For a week now, he has been sleeping with us. We always have a little chitchat before bed talking about this online game that he has been playing. Frustrated that I couldn’t even understand what he’s talking about, I decided to try it. He gave me a few tips on how to go about it, explained further the dos and don’ts. He even assured me that I’m gonna enjoy the game.

Here are some of our conversations every night:

Me: Are you sure Josh that I can go about it (the game)?
Josh: Of course Mom! And yeah if someone goes to you saying, need bf or need gf, IGNORE them…and besides you’re already MARRIED.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me: Hey Josh…what are runes? (i have not finished the tutorials of the game) Can you tell me where to get it? Can you also tell me where to get some food, etc.
Josh: Sorry Mom, I can’t teach you much, you see I’m not a born teacher, and besides I know you can figure it yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Josh: Mom, I can’t sleep, I’m bothered by Dad’s snoring.
Me: Tap him on the shoulder, and when he moves he’ll stop snoring.
Josh: *waiting*
Dad: *snores*
Josh: *taps his shoulder*
Me: I said tap Josh not shake!
Josh: Mom, the tapping did it, he stopped snoring!

~the following night ~
Josh: Dad’s not snoring, finally we have some PEACE AND QUIET nor now.
Me: Do you think Dad’d not annoyed by our noise?
Josh: I don’t think he hears us…see he’s still asleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me: Can you move a little please…you occupy so much space.
Josh: What can I do, I have ABs and MUSCLES.
Me: *gasp* ABs and MUSCLES? Do you know what you are talking about?
Josh: boys can dream too, you know.
Josh: *touching dad’s tummy* Mom, I can feel dad’s ABs, open close quotation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

*These are some of the many funny conversations we have every night, sometimes it takes us an hour before hitting the sack.*

How I Spent My Week

Posted by girlie on April 9, 2007

We normally spend Holy Week at home…it’s all you can sleep time (without feeling guilty, without feeling like a bum), anyone can be LAZY, anyone can stay LATE at night each doing his/her own thing.1. I was able to cook pasta (Tomato, Cream & Cheese and Puttanesca Sauces) and they loved it.
2. I thought I finished the series Gilmore Girls. The season 7 dvd contained only 10 episodes…bummer!
3. Watched Memoirs of Geisha (don’t have anything to do)
4. Had dinner at my in-laws, brought my version of chicken inasal for them to taste, and cooked garlic rice to go with the chicken.
5. Had our usual Good Friday Coffee Night at starbucks with the gang.
6. Attended Easter Service, then had Easter lunch over at my parents’ house.
7. Was suppose to watch a movie to culminate the week, but lazy bones still =(

Still Busy

Posted by girlie on March 21, 2007

‘Twas a very busy week for me. My sister and her husband arrived from the US for a short vacation. I have been tasked to bring them around, meet with our other relatives, some shopping, a trip to the beauty salon, trip to Belo, etc. You know how it is when Pinoys come home, they squeeze everything in their two week stay.

she’s the one at the extreme left
————————————

We’re still on with our fitness thingy…if ever we can’t jog or bike, Josh makes it a point to play an hour of badminton. Good thing he’s still very much into it, and has maintained his diet too. Way to go Josh!

————————————

We attended the birthday celebration of Kuya Rey, of course the day won’t be complete without picture(s). Even if he was the celebrant, we asked him to take our photo, (to borrow Edna’s words, “pang friendster din yan”) haha.

Gina, Rhea, Edna, Me, Cuz
**It’s really a problem if you don’t have to post all the happenings, you tend to forget everything, or you cannot get yourself to write a decent post, it’s like there’s so much to share, yet few words come to mind….haaaaayyy!**

Jog Josh Jog!

Posted by girlie on March 12, 2007

Summer vacation officially starts today for the kids, though they have to be back 2 more days, 17th for Josh’s Reading Diagnostic Test, (he was one among the five picked by the teacher to participate) and the 27th (Josh) 28th (Ish) to get the report card.

Today also marks the start of our fitness thingy. We went all the way to Mall of Asia (MOA) to jog. It’s more like jog…walk…jog…walk… It’s actually a first for the kids so I don’t wanna force them. We only did 3 kilometers and they’ve survived it, although Ish and the Yaya (nanny) did a short cut, cutting down the 3 km by about 200 meters. I encouraged Josh to finish it (he needs it badly) which he did. We are happy that they love it and we don’t need to drag them into doing it.

HELLO TO A HEALTHY SUMMER! yay!

Are You A Pleaser?

Posted by girlie on February 27, 2007

It is every girls dream to have a perfect family, and it’s our tendency to resort to different things just to make it happen. There is a common factor among us girls that stand out, that is us being PLEASERS. We aim to please everyone but ourselves. There is really nothing wrong about pleasing others, but sometimes we overdo it to the point that we lose who we are in the process. We expose ourselves to failure coz all we think about is how to please everyone around us.

To be happy with everyone else, we need to be happy ourselves. We should learn to once again love who and what we are, be able to say NO to things that does not please us. We don’t need to sacrifice ourselves just to be able to please others.

I was once a pleaser, I still am, but I already know my limitations. I am lucky that I have N who understands my needs and supports them. I have children who understand that when I say NO it’s really NO, of course with a little bargaining =) Now I have time for myself. They let me go out and meet my friends,
N supports my love for belly dancing and it has never been an issue to him. (If you only know how excited he was when I had my first dance performance…he took a video, a video with only me in the frame, haha) There are a lot more things that I can do, but of course I know my limitations. It’s really a matter of knowing where and when to stop to be able to have a harmonious family.

All In A Day

Posted by girlie on February 15, 2007

my nieces Hannah & Cheska, my nephew David, (kids of my brother) and N clowning on the side

It was Dad’s birthday on the 14th, we went to bring him flowers. If you noticed that heart on top of the flower, that was made by Hannah (my niece). A day before Dad’s birthday, she knocked on my Mom’s door showing that heart cutout. Mom thought all the while it was for her, but when she asked the lil girl, she said it was her birthday present for her Lolo (grandfather). Hannah is really a very sweet girl. On her dad’s (my brother) birthday, she made a card and included the ribbon she got from school and told her dad, “here’s my bday present for you.”

w/ Mom, my sister Mimi (1 who was recently operated on) and my brother Toto
V-Days are now spent with the family and the rest of the household. We all went to Mall of Asia to celebrate. I had to drop by Toy Kingdom to have the gameboy micro we bought in December checked. And guess what?

I was walking to the counter quite in a hurry, didn’t notice that there was a protruding fiber glass, got hit by it. Excruciating pain I tell you, I almost couldn’t walk. I related the matter to the girl behind the counter, asked for the store manager, but took them a while before somebody could attend to my needs. But everything changed when I took out my camera and started taking pictures. It was like all of a sudden everyone was there, from the store manager down to the security and all. They started moving the stuff that hit me, and I had to stop them. Now you can see their panic striken faces, and got more attentive to my needs. Maybe they thought that the reason why I took pictures was for something else, while what I had in mind was really for the blog, hehe, but those photos would come in handy in case something else happens to me, but thank God i’m OK. I did not expect this to happen, among all shops at Toy Kingdom. It should be child-proofsafe (thanks KK) and all, considering there are a lot of children running around. It’s really negligence on their part and it has to take one person to get wounded for them to realize that they could have trimmed the edges and make it a bit rounded to avoid accidents. And this is what I don’t like about Pinoys, they take everything in stride and only take action if you yourself has taken action like taking pictures, maybe create a scene or something…arrrrggghhh!

So Many Wonderful Things

Posted by girlie on February 14, 2007

When Ish was younger and asked what she wants to become when she grows up, she would say EAT & SLEEP! But nowadays, she talks about becoming a lawyer or a journalist. Reading her latest post , she has taken a step on realizing her dream of becoming a writer. I am encouraging her to become a lawyer too, coz none of us has followed the footsteps of my Dad. She also plans to spend half of her college life in the US. I was overjoyed when she shared with me her dreams of what she wants to be in the future, not the EAT & SLEEP lil girl anymore, but with BIGGER dreams. Go Ish!

I’m so happy with my new template. I’ve been looking for a free template that has the 2 sidebars on the right for a year now. I even attempted to install a wordpress theme but in vain, I just couldn’t understand how it works. I also thought of hiring the services of a pro, just to be able to get the look that I want. Anyway, I did a lil tweaking on the codes of my new template though, and took me 2 days to figure it out, almost giving up again. But looking at how my blog looks like now…ahhhh! finally I have the “look”. Thank you so much. Oh thank you to haloscan for their recent comments widget, now i’ll be able to read comments on past entries without having to check on them one by one.

I finally met Nina and her sister Gigi. Nina is based in the States and is here for a vacation. It’s really fun meeting cyber friends in person, they’re like family, it’s like you’ve known each other all your life. You don’t feel any awkwardness seeing them for the first time. We had lunch at Gerri’s Grill at Promenade in Greenhills, then went for a lil shopping at the tiangge. It’s like shopping, catching up and chilling out with an old girlfriend, that’s how I felt with Nina. Thanks for the Vanilla Lace Nins =)
Gigi is the one beside me, Nina’s beside Cuz.

I attended the PTC (Parents Teachers Conference) last Saturday and there’s a lot of reasons to be happy too. Kids are doing good, and have improved a lot especially Ish. The elem-HS transition thingy is now gone. My only problem though is their being talkative…it has been the problem since day 1 of school, maybe one day I’ll just put a tape in their mouths, whatcha think? harhar

For 16 years now, I’ve always gotten flower/s from N on Vee Day, isn’t that sweet! Really i’m overjoyed, the romance hasn’t stopped, i’m still excited getting flowers from him, and I can see the excitement on his face when he hands it to me every valentines day, not because he wants to see the reaction on my face when I open the envelope that includes shopping moolah, harhar. He’s gotten practical you know, why buy a bunch of flowers when you can convert some of it to shopping moolah, right? Oh isn’t he sweet? Thank you so much Sweet!

I saw Gretchen B at Makati Shangri-la Hotel last Sunday. Gosh she is very pretty and very thin. I expected to see a Gretchen B with a bunch of security guys in tow, an air headed Gretchen B, a snobbish Gretchen B. But the Gretchen B I saw last Sunday was the opposite. No bunch of guys in tow, but only her partner TonyBoy, she looked meek though, no traces of being snobbish. Oh wait, why is this part of my entry? Oh well, it’s wonderful to see a person projected by the press as like this and like that but is the exact opposite, even if only for a night or two.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY EVERYONE!

I was with my sister when she was roomed in to the OR for her scheduled operation. She had myoma and they had to take it out. I don’t know what came to me that I asked my uncle, (the anaesthesiologist) if I could watch the procedure. Luckily I was not allowed. Well, since I was not allowed to watch, I just went back to the room and took a nap. Mom and BIL went home to get some stuffs so I was left alone. I started imagining things, SCARY! Good thing I was really very very sleepy and it wasn’t long I was off to dreamland.

Kriiing, krriiiinnng, I was awaked by a phone call, it was my uncle. He asked me to go to the reception area of the OR. When I got there, he had with him some sort of a basin, with the bloody fibroid(it was really big, as in really big), and the ovaries in it. I quickly covered my eyes with my hand, occasionally doing peek-a-boo in between my fingers. He wanted to show it to me, and I was like NO! I don’t like to see it. And he said, “oh I thought you were brave, you even wanted to watch the procedure.”

It’s good that I didn’t insist on watching, I know I could get inside if I insisted really. With just a glimpse of it, my imagination went wild to the point that I almost vomitted while having dinner. But on second thought, I could have taken a look. Then losing weight wouldn’t be a problem (my tummy is really bulging). The easiest and fastest way to lose weight without really trying, right? WRONG! What if my imagination runs wild for months? Then I’ll be D-E-A-D!

It’s My Darling Boy’s Birthday

Posted by girlie on December 14, 2006

Dear Josh,

I’d like to thank the Lord for giving you and your sister to our lives. You both are our bundle of joy and the apple of our eyes.

You are the person that can make me laugh all the time, even at the height of my anger, you always have a way to make me laugh with your funny statements. I love it when you throw kisses all over my face, I love it too when you lie down on my stomach when we’re watching TV or when you simply stay close to me whenever we’re in bed. I’m happy when you appreciate my cooking and when you simply say, thanks for the gourmet meal Mom. You always asks me if i’m happy when you bring home your report card and show me your grades, of course I am, I AM VERY HAPPY that you excel in school. This is also one thing that I appreciate in you. You know how to say you’re sorry whenever you break my heart…I feel a different kind of high when you say “I LOVE YOU MOM” out of the blue…there are a lot more things you do that make me happy.

Please don’t feel bad when your attention is being called. There are a lot of things that you don’t seem to understand for now, I know how scared you are at the sight of needles and yet I get mad at you, it’s because I want you to get well right away and I can’t stand the sight of you being sick. I also get mad or sometimes scream when you take your time when you are being called to eat, it’s because this is a very nice way to bond, talk about things that happened in school or just plain conversations. I also get frustrated when you don’t concentrate on your studies, it’s because I want you to excel. I always hear you say RULES….RULES…RULES…they suck. Please understand that discipline is part of growing up, this is what will mold you to become a better person. We don’t set up rules in the house to make life difficult for you, please put that in mind. We all have to go through this, I went through this and I had the same reaction as you have, but now that I am a parent, I understand and I even thank Lolo and Lola (your grandparents) for doing so, coz it made me a better person. I know you’ll understand all these when the time comes.

I pray that the Lord will always protect you from harm, that He will always give you good health and strength, that He will give you wisdom, and that He will grant all the desires of your heart. We love you very much Josh.

Happy 11th Birthday!

Love,

Mom

P.S. Now you see the reason why Dad didn’t buy you the GameBoy Micro last Sunday. It’s because we wanted to surprise you big time on your birthday. I just loved the look on your face when you got it…it’s PRICELESS!
