Hospital…

Posted by girlie on May 11, 2012

I’m not the one confined but my darling doll. She had fever for 3 consecutive days which is very unusual when we are talking about plain flu. I didn’t really suspect that she had dengue, it was farthest from my mind. When it was confirmed that she had it, it was pretty hard for me to accept. I was doubly worried because I’ve heard of worst cases happening. I kept praying and trusting God that He will completely heal her. I still worry a lot even if I know that I have a God who heals. I think it’s the mother in me, the ache I feel when I see my daughter so helpless.

I Miss Baguio

Posted by girlie on December 30, 2011

We got back last night. We only spent 2 nights in Baguio and we all miss the place. Or is it probably more of the stress-free vacation that we had? We seldom do this as a family, like travel just the four of us. We always tag along a nanny on local trips and it’s such as welcome treat not having one this time. It’s teaching my kids not to get dependent on their nanny. I saw that they can actually do more without her. One more thing that I enjoyed is being alone with my family. We can discuss anything under the sun, we need privacy too you know.

Anyway, we all decided to have this after Christmas holiday yearly. It’s something to look forward to and it’s a wonderful way to bond with the family.

We Welcome You

Posted by girlie on May 21, 2011

I recently saw one of the birth announcements sent my cousin. I wasn’t really surprised when I read it simply because I already knew about the baby which she shared in Facebook. When I got hold of the card, I started wondering how come I didn’t come up with something like this with my two kids. I guess it’s not really an in thing here, although I have a few friends who did it. Too bad I am not going to have a baby anymore, I’ll just probably reserve the idea for my grandchildren in the future. No, it’s too early to even think about it.

At Sonya’s Garden

Posted by girlie on April 5, 2011

Photobucket Originally it was just me and SIL. The plan was to accompany her to one of her clients then proceed to Sonya’s Garden for lunch. I don’t know how it became a family affair, but just the same it was a welcome treat. Oh I’m not talking about lunch because the kids did not like it. I think even the husband didn’t like it too. It was actually us (me and SIL) who enjoyed the set meal consisting of salad and pasta. The salad was good, very fresh and the dressing was yummy too. Pasta was so so, my pasta is way better, ahem. Honestly I didn’t really enjoy the lunch, I worried too much about the people I was with because they were not eating, plus the fact that me, Josh and Ish had a headache from the car ride. No, I’m not gonna ride that car again. I don’t want to feel uncomfortable, and the word uncomfortable is even a milder description of the ride. It was way beyond uncomfortable.

Legal to Drive

Posted by girlie on March 30, 2011

Yay! Finally the daughter got her Driver’s License. It was her brother who got really excited. Josh found out about it on his way home from school. He ran to the room of his sister and asked the sister to bring him around. I really love the kind of relationship they have. They used to fight a lot when they were younger, I mean really fight like physical fighting. I’m glad that those days are now over. Today they are very loving towards each other. I often hear them say “I ? you” to each other. Thank you Lord for guiding me and helping me raise my children well.

My Kickboxer

Posted by girlie on February 4, 2011

Photobucket I am so happy that my son has finally agreed to go into some fitness routine. We’ve been encouraging him ever since I can remember, but all he wants is just to play video games. Well until now he is still into it, but this time he can squeeze in fitness. I asked him to join the kickboxing class and he happily agreed in fact he is starting to love it. He looks forward to it and is willing to stay overtime. Hopefully he loses some weight along the way which is the main target why we are encouraging him to go into fitness.

*It’s just his second session and he already showed signs of improvement said his coach.

Sister Got Really Sick

Posted by girlie on January 19, 2011

My sister was stricken with a rare disease. I was crying almost everyday just thinking about her. There was a time when she couldn’t be diagnosed and it got really frustrating. She was confined in the hospital for a month. She has not completely recovered yet and I’m not very sure if she filed for social security disability. She wasn’t given the go signal by her physicians to go back to work yet. She can’t drive too because her vision was affected. We are praying for complete healing and I know that nothing is impossible with God.

Time to Bond

Posted by girlie on December 27, 2010

PhotobucketMy family went to Tagaytay on the 22nd of December. It was a spur of the moment thing, we decided at the last minute that we all wanted to go to Tagaytay. Just us, minus the nanny. Sometimes I like going out without the nanny, just the four of us. I enjoy the company of my kids more, and we actually enjoy each other’s company. It’s totally different when it’s just the 4 of us. Even my daughter likes it that way all the time. Maybe it’s about time to wean everyone else from the yaya, yeah! Just to let you know, every time we go to Tagaytay, we never fail to drop by our favorite coffee shop, just love the ambiance.

Sistah Update

Posted by girlie on October 18, 2010

She has transferred to another hospital already and is now undergoing treatment for Miller Fisher Syndrome. I thank everyone for your love and prayers. God has indeed heard our prayers for she has gotten a lot better. I have not spoken with her yet (i don’t really want to bother her coz she might be resting) but gets updates from my other sister who is with her. Please continue to pray for healing and for complete recovery. We really appreciate all the prayers you have made for my sistah Rachel!

Prayers Needed

Posted by girlie on October 11, 2010

I just spoke with my sister awhile back. She is still in the hospital and there is still one more test to be made. Hopefully the doctors will have a diagnosis already. She’s been there since Thursday and they couldn’t really pinpoint yet what is wrong with her. They did a series of tests, labs and all yet they can’t say what was wrong with her. Stroke was already ruled out. Her face and right hand is still numb and she gets double vision until now. Doctors said that her 5th nerve is affected. I’m asking everyone to please include her(Rachel) in your prayers. We have a mighty God that can do miracles and I am claiming on this promise. Thank you!

Thank God I was able to attend my Aunt’s 90th birthday celebration at the Manila Hotel. Nanay Loleng as we fondly call her is the only surviving sister of my Mom. That’s them in the first picture. It was a wonderful celebration with lots of food even more than enough for everyone. They also had a photobooth where unlimited shots was being offered, so everyone had fun even the olds.

I pray that the Lord will continue to bless my Aunt and my Mom longer life, and that they continue to be strong and healthy.

Ish is now 17!

Posted by girlie on August 31, 2010

Photobucket I can’t believe it. Time indeed flies fast. My daughter Ish is now 17? Oh no! I still remember carrying her in my arms, dressing her up like a dolly when she was still a toddler, combing her hair into pigtails when she was in elementary and ironing her hair in High School. Now that she is in College, it’s now putting on eyeliner. Yeah, that is our bonding moment and we get to talk about anything under the sun. I really really thank the Lord that I have a lovely daughter, a daughter that is respectful, a daughter that brings me joy all the time, a daughter who loves the Lord, a daughter who can be a loyal friend (she’s my bestest friend), and the list is endless. I love you my darling doll!

My Musician

Posted by girlie on August 16, 2010

PhotobucketI finally bought the boy his violin. He’s been bugging me since last summer to let him take violin lessons. He wants to learn how to play a musical instrument particularly the violin before he dies. That’s what he told me. I am as excited as he is. I can’t wait for him to be able to play his first piece. I think he will learn fast because I really see the interest in him. Hopefully he’ll love it more and develop a passion for it.

I Miss Sistah!

Posted by girlie on May 7, 2010

I was with my sister a few days back. She came home for a vacation. Too bad she stayed only for a week but at least we got to spend time with her and that’s not so bad. Thing is, we all miss her already. Her trip is normally short and I don’t know why we can’t get used to that idea. There are a lot of things I wanted to ask her but didn’t have the time to do it. There’s always FB or YM or text messages, yeah I know but nothing beats talking to her face to face. I forgot to ask her if her furnace is working fine. She just transferred to her old house and Mom mentioned that she had one. Hopefully she was able to fix it and was able to find furnace filters. She needs to stock on this, her family is prone to allergies. Oh I need to remind her about changing filters too, she’s complaining about her bill and this should help lessen the bill.

The Sisters Are Coming

Posted by girlie on March 18, 2010

Can’t wait for April 22, if only I can pull the dates, come on I am excited and for once I want to be “happy”. I love my sisters dearly and oh my brother too. I love the kind of relationship that we have. Two of my sisters are now residing in the US, we are all married, but despite those facts, we remain close to each other. There is no way I can give away my sister/brother. It’s just not right. I have overflowing love and respect for them that’s why that won’t happen ever. I feel sad when someone in the family gives away a member of the family. I don’t know for whatever reason, but I think there is none. I am just happy that I was born into this family where only love and laughter prevail. It’s not a perfect one, but when there is enough love, there is always room for forgiveness and no room for holding grudges whatsoever!

Bohemian Rhapsody

Posted by girlie on July 22, 2008

Everytime we are in the car, Josh wants his Dad to play this song. I think he now memorizes it with the constant playing. I love watching my son do a lip synch of this song, with matching emo. Yeah he is good, we (me and Ish) even suggested that we take a vid of him while doing his act and post it on youtube. He doesn’t like it coz he says he’s just making a fool out of himself. His sister does not believe so. She believes in her brother’s talent and even thinks he can make it big in youtube. Ah kids, they’re crazy. I love them the way they are, they make me happy.

*Note: The Hubs played Dion-Pavarotti’s I Hate You Then I Love You, apparently Josh can’t quite get it and he says, “I don’t quite get that, I hate you then I love you…how can that be?” This boy’s really something!

Hannah Banana

Posted by girlie on May 24, 2008

Photobucket Today, Hannah is celebrating her 7th Birthday. She is the eldest daughter of my brother, and she’ll be having a party at McDonalds later this afternoon. I volunteered to be the official photographer of the day. She is already excited about her party. That’s her dream, to have a party at McDo when she turns 7. She didn’t forget about her Ninang (godmother) Debbie’s (my eldest sister) promise that when she turns 7 she’s gonna have a party at McDo. I’ll be posting pictures over at my flickr account tonight and if you have time please check it out.

What? Midnight Snack?

Posted by girlie on April 15, 2008

Photobucket   We had Arroz Caldo (Porridge) for dinner, I had a bowl, while he had a bowl and a half. But come 1 am, he went to the room and ask me to join him for midnight snack. I offered him a biscuit, but he had something else in mind. So we went down and each had a bowl of cereals (cinnamon toast), yum! We were both satisfied, ahem. When we were about to go to sleep, we talked about eating healthy. I discussed with him the food pyramid, hehe. Today at lunch, he had salad, chicken and a small amount of rice. He asked if he ate healthy. I hope he’ll continue eating healthy, I’m scared about his weight.

Special Guest

Posted by girlie on April 12, 2008

My Mom stayed with us for 2 days.  I think she got bored in her house that she asked me to fetch her.  Once in a while we invite her to stay with us.  If only it could be permanent then why not.  But she misses her grandchildren who are staying with her.  It took them just a phone call to let her come home.  Hhhhmmm, I’ll ask my kids to call her too, to beg her to stay with us again, this time for a week.  The longest she stays with us is 3 days only.  My kids are fond of their Lola especially my darling boy.  He makes my Mom laugh with his funny ways.  Everytime Mom stays with us, Josh gets worried that she does not go home come Sunday.  He tells my Mom, “Lola, how can I have my crispy pata when you are not in Fairview?”  Remember we always have lunch in my Mom’s place every Sunday.

Sad…But Why?

Posted by girlie on November 10, 2007

We went to watch The Game Plan last night in the movie house.  Yes we enjoyed the movie so much, but it could have been better is all four of us watched.  But as it is, my darling boy Josh didn’t like to come with us.  I don’t like to force him because I don’t want to create friction between the two of us, neither do his dad.  I did a lot of convincing for him to join us, but it was all in vain.  He wants to be left at home, it seems that this online gaming is pretty much taking so much of his time.  I miss the time that the kids can tag along wherever we were going.  I miss the time that they will not allow us to leave without them in tow.  My oh my how time flies.  Now they choose their own activities.  FYI, I do require them to come with us if it is necessary, which I don’t accept no for an answer.

Field Trip

Posted by girlie on November 1, 2007

sc.JPG  I got a text message from my cousin Aleli (dad’s side) if I wanted to join the “field trip” for senior citizens (my Mom, Aunties Glo, Trining and Telly) to 168 Mall at Divisoria on Friday.  They actually talked about it while we were at the cemetery and I was like laughing at them, even asking  how they can manage to go.  That is not just the place for them, there are lots of people and I am just scared that they will be elbowed and could not take it.  I thought they were just kidding me, but no, they are really decided to go.  I sent an sms to my cousin asking if my Mom is going, and she said yes.  Well I have to join their so called field trip, I need to take care of my 81 year old Mom, although she is still very able.  My daughter Ish wants to tag along, but I don’t think I will bring her, it’ s hard to take care of 2 people.  Next time Ish, we will have our own time.  I will just get you the things you requested me to buy for you, ok?

Bunk Beds

Posted by girlie on

Back at my parents’ house, we have a small storage room which we converted into a bedroom. My parents then thought that it would be better to put a bunk bed because of the small space. I remember wanting to sleep in that room because of the bed, I was fascinated with it, I even fought with my brother on who can stay on the second level. Ahhhh those were the days. These bunk beds are great to have when you do not have enough space in your homes. You gotta see this collection of bunk beds at www.efurniturehouse.com.

“Boy Magnet”

Posted by girlie on October 31, 2007

I often hear Josh call/refer to his sister as “boy magnet”.  It’s like when I admire Ish with anything, next the words that will come out of Joshua’s  mouth would be “boy magnet”.  While we were having lunch awhile back I asked him what “boy magnet” means.  And he was like, “Duh! Mommy it’s the things that you do that attracts boys.  You know, like how you fix your hair, the clothes that you wear.”  I suddenly fixed my hair “Isha Style”, then said, like this Josh?  Do I qualify?  And he was like… “For the love of …Noooooo, you are already married!”  Haha, as if I don’t know that.  What’s funny, their Dad reacted, saying “No boy magnet for you, you are married.”  DUH!

No Longer My Baby

Posted by girlie on September 20, 2007

07272007177.jpg  I  just noticed recently that his voice changed, a little deeper now, no longer a child’s. He’s 11 and in the 6th grade, now more aware of beautiful girls around him. He came home one time, asking me what “on” means. Duh, it’s the opposite of off I tell him. And he was like, duh I know that Mom, I’m referring to the other “on” thing. I actually did not expect the other “on” word. So I made him use it in a sentence. “Mommy, meron ka-”on” yung classmate ko.” Oh, so that’s the “on” word he was talking about. I told him that it’s a word used by pinoy youngsters referring to girlfriend/boyfriend. And his sister explained further. Gasp! my daughter knows more than I expected. Really, maybe I’m just in the denial stage, I still couldn’t quite accept that my kids are growing up real fast. Josh has grown a little taller, and he’s starting to have zits in his face. Oh no! He’s not my baby anymore! But he says, he still is, he does not forget hugging me and planting kisses on my face and with that I am very happy.

The Birthday Girl

Posted by girlie on August 27, 2007

b3.JPG b2.JPG b.JPG

She asked me if she can have a pre-birthday celebration with her fellow scouts. So a day before her birthday, we accompanied her to Trinoma, the mall they chose. I ordered pizza for them at Yellow Cab, then treated them to a movie (Hairspray). We gave them a little time to play at Time Zone too.

b4.JPG This happened at the eve of her birthday. I asked the little boy to give his sister a big, big kiss. He was really teasing his sister, (you should have seen him wet his lips) thus the picture.
