I Miss Baguio

Posted by girlie on December 30, 2011

We got back last night. We only spent 2 nights in Baguio and we all miss the place. Or is it probably more of the stress-free vacation that we had? We seldom do this as a family, like travel just the four of us. We always tag along a nanny on local trips and it’s such as welcome treat not having one this time. It’s teaching my kids not to get dependent on their nanny. I saw that they can actually do more without her. One more thing that I enjoyed is being alone with my family. We can discuss anything under the sun, we need privacy too you know.

Anyway, we all decided to have this after Christmas holiday yearly. It’s something to look forward to and it’s a wonderful way to bond with the family.

Overnight Getaway

Posted by girlie on April 30, 2011

Photobucket Kids will be busy this summer, we might not be able to go somewhere for a short vacation. We took the opportunity to go to this place last Holy Week. We stayed only for a night because we booked late already. Apparently there were people who booked ahead of us months before. Well at least we had one night to spend and enjoy Aquatico’s beauty. I love the place, it’s quiet and kinda private. I love the crowd too. Given the chance, I will go back and enjoy the place more. One night is just not enough.

At Sonya’s Garden

Posted by girlie on April 5, 2011

Photobucket Originally it was just me and SIL. The plan was to accompany her to one of her clients then proceed to Sonya’s Garden for lunch. I don’t know how it became a family affair, but just the same it was a welcome treat. Oh I’m not talking about lunch because the kids did not like it. I think even the husband didn’t like it too. It was actually us (me and SIL) who enjoyed the set meal consisting of salad and pasta. The salad was good, very fresh and the dressing was yummy too. Pasta was so so, my pasta is way better, ahem. Honestly I didn’t really enjoy the lunch, I worried too much about the people I was with because they were not eating, plus the fact that me, Josh and Ish had a headache from the car ride. No, I’m not gonna ride that car again. I don’t want to feel uncomfortable, and the word uncomfortable is even a milder description of the ride. It was way beyond uncomfortable.

Roadtrip: 1st Leg

Posted by girlie on April 13, 2010

Photobucket We went on a roadtrip to celebrate the 68th birthday of my MIL. Instead of having a party, she opted for a vacation instead. First leg of the roadtrip was spent in Anvaya Cove in Bataan. We went there via Subic. It took us about 2.5 hours to get there using SCTEX. We had so much fun, enjoyed the beach and the pool a lot. Dinner was yummy too. Since there was nothing to do there after 10 pm, we decided to go down Subic and have a drink. We went to Lighthouse and there we saw Bro. Mike Velarde. Thought it was ok to have our picture taken. Well it was, but it wasn’t a welcome treat. I greeted him the moment we were beside him, no reaction from him, he didn’t even look at us. Ok maybe he just didn’t hear us. After the shot was taken, I said thank you. Still no reaction from him, he didn’t even look at us. So what do you call that kind of person? Was he born without any social graces? Isn’t he a public figure having led El Shaddai and the representative of a party list? What’s a hello and a you’re welcome? Just three words compared to the long sermon he gives during their services. Hmmm, maybe he was not just taught well.

Off to Tagaytay

Posted by girlie on April 2, 2010

Photobucket We went to Tagaytay yesterday, it was just a random thing. We left around 2 pm and we got there a little before 6 pm. Traffic was terrible because there was a mini fire along Sta. Rosa. Traffic was also terrible in Tagaytay City. It was bumper to bumper probably because there were two churches along the highway and we all know about Visita Iglesia. We had pizza for dinner at Yellow Cab, as usual we had half New York’s Finest with extra anchovies and half Four Cheese for the kids. That is their all time favorite. Suprisingly there were a lot of people having dinner there too. Gone are the days that you almost don’t see anyone in the streets when it’s Holy Week. After dinner we proceeded to Bag of Beans for some coffee. We stayed for a wee bit because traffic was still terrible at that time. I had 2 mugs of Kape Barako and I thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep at all because of caffeine OD. But no, when we got home, I hit the sack right away. I got dizzy or something. Probably I got tired from sitting in the car for almost 6 hours. But all together it was fun spending Holy Thursday with the family. I can’t get enough of the kids’ funny antics especially the comedian in the family.

A Day with the Kids : 50th Weekend Snapshot

Posted by girlie on March 2, 2009

Photobucket The kids did not have their SatAc last Saturday, so we were free to eat at McD for lunch. I was lazy to cook so I asked them where they wanted to have lunch. Since Ish have been talking McD in her sleep (haha just kidding), but really McD is her fave, I brought them there. I can see the joy in their faces so I made a deal with them. We will now make it a once a month habit, some kind of bonding for the 3 of us.

Photobucket I noticed this very nice shadow while waiting for the kids to finish playing at timezone on Saturday night. This was at Starbucks while taking a sip of my husband’s fave drink. Yeah I was not in the mood to have my fave caramel machiatto since it was kinda hot, I didn’t like it cold either. Ah maybe I was just not in the mood for Starbucks that time.

How was your weekend? Hope you had fun!

China…Hopefully!

Posted by girlie on February 22, 2009

I am excited! Oh that is an understatement! I’ve been waiting for this time to go on China holidays. I think I mentioned before that I was supposed to go with my cousins and some friends but that didn’t push through. We went to another place instead, yeah Singapore. But this time, looks like it’s gonna push through, well I am keeping my fingers crossed. I’m still waiting for the final date on when the kids’ classes would end so I can already make arrangement for our China tours. My father-in-law suggested that we go on escorted tours because that’s what they had when they went on a China tour a couple of years ago. It makes sense I think since it will be our first time. I don’t want to miss all the important places in history, and all this would only be possible if we join a group or something. Joining a tour group would almost cover it all, says my father-in-law. I guess he is right. Now I’m counting the days, will it be March or April? Will it push through or not? What are the odds? Oh I don’t know, but I have a strong feeling that we will be able to see Beijing and Shanghai…ni hao!

Christmas Celebration

Posted by girlie on December 29, 2008

Photobucket We had a very simple Christmas Eve celebration, well compared to the past years. I only prepared chinese ham, 3 kinds of cheeses, baked macaroni, french cookies with strawberry jam, grapes, red wine and spritzer for the kids. Even if it was simple, we still enjoyed the conversation at the table. I didn’t drink much either, just a glass of wine probably because I was very tired. I made 16 loaves of banana bread to be given away to relatives on both sides on Christmas day. I wanted it freshly baked so I did it on the 24th.

Photobucket

Photobucket We visited the ILs for lunch, then proceeded to my side of the family at 3 pm for early dinner. It’s wonderful to be spending time with the family on Christmas Day. We get to see our loved ones, it was like a reunion.

After dinner, we proceeded to Trinoma for our yearly movie tradition, that is to watch a Vic Sotto film. Too bad the cinema was full, yep every seat was taken can you believe that? We were able to do our other Christmas tradition which is to adopt an “animal”. Will tell you more about it in another entry.

If you want to see more photos of the celebration, check out my flickr account.

Photobucket Bday boy’s favorite

We celebrated J’s 13th birthday on Sunday upon the request of the in-laws. Initially he wanted it done in Friday’s, but since the old folks didn’t like it there, we went to a chinese restaurant instead. We feasted on all his favorite food, crabs and peking duck included. Or should I say my favorite food, with fried pigeon as bonus ^_^. He doesn’t want to have his photos taken, but since it was his birthday, I took the opportunity to take some, telling him that he should have a least some photos on his 13th birthday.

Photobucket With his “girlfriend”

Photobucket and the other girl in his life.

Ok, wish granted. We surprised him by going to Friday’s when they got home from school. He was the one who ordered (feeling like a real grown up man), and I allowed him to eat anything, including the Cs (chocolate and coke) that his doctor does not allow him to have. It’s his birthday anyway.

Photobucket Of course his birthday will not be complete without playing in Timezone. Again we allowed him to stay up late, it’s his birthday!

Date with a Young Man

Posted by girlie on June 11, 2008

Photobucket Bob, the lovable fatso is my favorite character in Tekken 6.  Nah, I didn’t go out with him, LOL.  Anyway, I promised to bring my son to Timezone before school starts…just the two of us.  It happened yesterday.  We had lunch at his favorite restaurant  Cibo.  He ordered Al Nero (black pasta).  My guy knows how to eat good food.  At his age (12), you wouldn’t think that he would go for black noodles, it’s not a sight to behold.  But as it is, this young man would go for anything.  Maybe he got that from me, I am not scared to try anything.

After lunch, we rushed to Timezone.  He had fun playing, without someone bothering him to go home.  He played for four hours. I wanted to play with him, but there was no vacant slot, I played Tekken 5 instead. I got bored playing against the cpu, haha go figure why. When in Greenhills, I can’t stop myself from shopping, err window shopping I mean. Yep, I didn’t buy anything which is very unusual. Haha, talking about being a rehabilitated shopaholic. Then I said to myself, why don’t I work while waiting for my guy? So I went to an internet cafe. Nah, I was not able to work, not used to the environment, to the pc, to the keyboard. I didn’t feel comfortable at all. Probably I spent about 15 minutes in the shop only. I find surfing at home better.

*I’m not allowed to take pictures, so I don’t have anything to share. He is at this stage that he does not want to be seen across the net, LOL*

Tekken 5 Before Bed

Posted by girlie on June 2, 2008

Photobucket This is what we do before going to bed. We (me and Josh) take turns playing Tekken 5. We actually want to play Tekken 6 but as of the moment there is only Tekken 5 for PSP. My son is really addicted to Tekken 6 and he wants to practice all the time. But for now when at home, it’s Tekken 5 we are enjoying. Sometimes his Dad is really bothered by the noise we create because of excitement. But it’s really fun playing before bed. It’s our kind of bonding, and nothing can beat that.

The Mist

Posted by girlie on May 28, 2008

Photobucket It was raining hard yesterday while we were in Greenhills. This is what it gives you when it rains hard and the a/c in establishments are not turned off. It’s scribble time! That was the door leading to Fully Booked, my daughter’s favorite bookshop. She can’t help but scribble her chinese name. Good thing the guard at the entrance does not seem to mind, but she did open the door when we started taking pictures. She just smiled and didn’t stop us when she saw that we were taking pictures of the thing on the glass door. We were like little kids, it was kinda odd to see us, something like “what are these people doing?” Ahhh we are just having fun, something that I believe is not often done by a mother and daugther tandem. Yes we both can be crazy sometimes and that makes me loved by my kids. And that is what you call a HiPnCooLMoMMa!

Summer Fun

Today we went to the beach. The kids wanted to have fun. This is their second time to go to a beach, first time was when they were still small and was so afraid of stepping on the sand. That was the only thing they remembered, they didn’t like to step on the sand because they found it dirty. When they took a dip this morning, “the water is salty” the said in unison, like duh. Well I can’t blame them (more on we should take the blame) really since this is just their second time. I didn’t stay much in the water because I wanted to take pictures of them having fun. They sure did have fun. Good thing they didn’t like to stay under the sun that much, since it is really harmful to the skin. They were already contented with the 2 hour dip.

Bond With Me

Posted by girlie on April 19, 2008

Photobucket We have not gone out for quite a long time already, well last was on Good Friday. And that is a long time, compared to the once a week bonding we’ve had a couple of years back. Haha, ever since I’ve been doing you know what, (LOL) I’ve been tied in front of this laptop, glued to the chair. But last Thursday, we found time to see each other together with the kids. We ate at Teriyaki Boy, bought footwear (I swear I was not suppose to buy really but something happened to my sandals), spent time at The Face Shop where I got free nail color…I mean I applied nail color using the samples, hehe. I bought falsies again, this time the thicker one, I have not tried it though, but will be using it later when we go to Subic for a wedding coverage. It was nice bonding with you Cuz. Thanks for the jeans!

What? Midnight Snack?

Posted by girlie on April 15, 2008

Photobucket   We had Arroz Caldo (Porridge) for dinner, I had a bowl, while he had a bowl and a half. But come 1 am, he went to the room and ask me to join him for midnight snack. I offered him a biscuit, but he had something else in mind. So we went down and each had a bowl of cereals (cinnamon toast), yum! We were both satisfied, ahem. When we were about to go to sleep, we talked about eating healthy. I discussed with him the food pyramid, hehe. Today at lunch, he had salad, chicken and a small amount of rice. He asked if he ate healthy. I hope he’ll continue eating healthy, I’m scared about his weight.

Another Cousins Day

Remember we had a Cousins Day earlier this year? Well we had another one last Thursday. We went to Serendra again, well they have not seen the place yet. Plus the fact that I have a cousin who lives down south, so we just agreed to meet halfway. I guess whenever we have cousins day it will always be in Serendra or anywhere in Makati. Anyway we had dinner at Kamay Kainan, eat all you can, boo I was soooo stuffed that night. We enjoyed the food all 60 different recipes, well I really do not know if it’s 60 but that’s what they said in the streamer all for P 244.00. We also bought barbeque from Ineng’s, yummy and some fruits like durian, marang, langka, pomelo and mangosteen. Now you see why we are so stuffed. After dinner, we checked out Market!Market. I bought a few accessories. I will be posting it at the Personal.Shopper.Wannabe some time.

My Cousins

Posted by girlie on March 28, 2008

Photobucket Seated L-R: Idith, Arlene, Aleli. Standing L-R: Moi, Lecil, Leah, Gladys. They are my beautiful cousins. Lecil, Idith and Gladys are sisters and they are here for a brief vacation. They were here last year but I hardly spent time with them. I’m thankful that we were able to spend time, and was able to catch up on each other. Oh, did you notice something in the picture?

Pictures From Easter

Posted by girlie on March 25, 2008

We had a get together over at my Aunt’s house on Easter Sunday. My cousins and an Aunt arrived from the States and we decided to meet for lunch. It was potluck where each family brought their own specialty. I was just too lazy to cook, so I asked my Mom to cook my share of the potluck…embutido. We all had a great time. After the sumptuous lunch, we broke into small groups. I have some photos to share, so here!

Photobucket That’s my Auntie Aurie who just got back from the States too, Auntie Trining who’s going back to the States on Friday, and my ever beautiful vain Mom. They had a lot of catching up to do since they have not seen each other for quite some time. Both aunts are the sisters of my Dad, and they just love my Mom.

Photobucket The boys had their own room too, all of them enjoying their video games. Josh had a great time withh his cousins.

Photobucket  Others enjoyed singing, I joined them after I was done plucking my cousins’ eyebrows, hehe we had sort of a beauty parlor courtesy of moi.

Photobucket Some played scrabble in the master’s bedroom, while I was fixing the eyebrows ^_^

Photobucket These two girls enjoyed watching tv while seating on the massage chair

Photobucket and that’s me, getting tickled by the massage chair, but it felt so good after. The reason why I was laughing there is because I couldn’t stand the one of the feet area, it was just so ticklish. That is my reward for plucking and fixing eyebrows =)

Boredom ends in boisterous laughters

Posted by girlie on March 12, 2008

I was really super bored today.  I could have done something about it, but then I got lazy too.  Well maybe this is just not my day.  But maybe it is!  Ish came to our room asking me to accompany her downstairs and ransack the fridge.  She’s hungry.  When the boy found about it, he followed us.  Good thing there were Gonuts Donuts left in the fridge, and half a bottle of coke.  We brought the food to the boy’s room and had a picnic there.

J: Let’s watch some TV *while turning on the TV*
What’s on HBO? *while changing channels*

Me: ooops, not that! *saw a couple kissing*
*shifts to channel 12, GMA’s News Program*

J: Why that? HBO’s better, besides it’s not r18

Me: News is better, it’s informative!

J: But HBO is learning about humans!

Me: yeah right! news is also learning about humans

J: *planning to shift channels after I’ve gone out*

Me: “mabubulag ka” (you’ll go blind if you watch)
*checks on him after a few minutes…still on channel 12, yay!*
ayaw mabulag! bwaaahhh (doesn’t wanna go blind)

Midnight Snack

Posted by girlie on March 5, 2008

Photobucket Since school is practically over at least for him, he gives me company almost every night when I sit it out in front of the laptop, well I can say that he is addicted to it too. He even sleeps later than me enjoying his online game. He is my partner in crime most of the time, especially when it comes to foodie. Anything you offer him, he’ll gladly take. He is not picky when it comes to food, well it shows, haha. Anyway, that’s what we had one evening, for midnight snack. Inside that box of course aside from the donuts is queso de bola. He does not like it that much, but at least he tried it.

We decided to bring the kids to Tagaytay for dinner on Saturday. N and I celebrated Vee Day there and we just remembered the kids. We thought that it would be wonderful to spend the weekend there. We wanted them to experience Tagaytay’s temperature which was probably around 10-15 degrees (not sure about this though). Too bad it was not as cold when we got there, but still we had a wonderful weekend.

Cousins Day

cousins.JPG  Moi, Atchi Leah, Atchi Arlene, Aleli and Charity

They are my first cousins.  Our cousins day started last year but there was just four of us.  But this year we were five.  Charity spent the holidays here in the Philippines.  She is a registered nurse based in Georgia.  We had lunch at Abe in Serendra.  The food was really good.  Now I understand why the restaurant is always full.  It’s like if you want to have a table, it’s either you call early and have a reservation or go there early.  We were there at 11 in the morning and we were the first customer.  Then we had coffee at Starbucks.  Too bad we can’t spend the whole day enjoying each other’s company, but we had so much fun really.

New Year’s Day

reunion5.JPG reunion.jpg  Our family reunion was so much fun.  There were games for the kids and for the adults as well.  Goolay I suck!  It’s either winning 2nd or 3rd but never 1st.  Haha, there are actually 3 groups only.  The Cabotaje (Auntie Glo), Tiongson (Auntie Aurie) and Ferrer (my dad).  My two aunts are the sisters of my late father.  There was like Ish and me representing the Ferrers, my brother was nowhere in sight, my SIL had to take care of her kids, Josh didn’t like to participate, so how? Tell me ^_^.  Now I miss my two sisters just as I miss my SIL at New Year’s Eve.  They could have helped me win and bring home the moolah, haha just kidding.  I also miss the time that we were complete and everyone was present.  A lot of my relatives now reside in the US, good thing my Auntie Glo invited some of our relatives to spend the New Year with us.

Instant 1000

kfc.jpg  I didn’t know that she was going to Rockwell that day, she didn’t know I was going either. Anyway, Rhea saw us at the grocery and she said that her Mum was there too. I was having my dinner at KFC when I saw her. She looked lovely, like a balikbayan (someone who has lived abroad). I complimented her looks. Apparently, I was not the only one who noticed it but my son too.

Josh: Tita, ganda mo! (Auntie, you’re beautiful) *while giving her a kiss and a hug*
Cuz: Ah talaga? (really?)
Josh: Nagpa Belo ka ba? (did you go to Belo?) Belo is a famous dermatologist.
Cuz: Parang ganun, pero kay Dr. Calayan (sort of, but with Dr. Calayan)
Josh: Beautiful!

With that he was given 1000 pesos as christmas present. My boy is growing up, yay! He used to really snub them whenever he sees them. But that day was totally different, even Kuya Rey and Rhea noticed it.

Date with the Chairman

Posted by girlie on

chair.jpg chair1.jpg Chairman Vanidosa finally had the time to chill out with me. But while with me, she still received a lot of text messages and calls pertaining to her being chairman. We had lunch at Teriyaki Boy (her favorite) and stuffed ourselves with japanese food. Had coffee at starbucks to continue with her mathematics ^_^. We then went shopping for a few items. It was a fun filled afternoon, a very nice way to bond with us Moms and our daughter.

baghanger.jpg She bought a bag hanger for herself but did not forget to get her bff as well. Thanks Cuz for being generous all the time. Hope we do this again after New Year.
