Hoping to Buy a Mac

Posted by girlie on September 17, 2010

I don’t have my own computer right now. I’m just using my son’s laptop and whenever he has a new game either in PS3 or PSP I am so happy. It means that I can use his computer as long as I want. I pity myself sometimes when I can’t use it because I beg. He lets me use it though, but I need to wait for him to finish what he is doing whether school related or not. I wish we had extended laptop warranty here in the Philippines. We do have but you need to get a Mac which is beyond my budget. You see my laptop died on me after a year and a half only. Sucks right? I’m not getting that brand anymore. I only chose it because my first laptop was of the same brand and it served me for more than 5 years, in fact I can still use it until now. It does not have wifi that is why I opted to get a new one, and of the same brand thinking that it was the most durable brand. But I was wrong. Now I am saving up for a Mac, I wonder when I can buy it, hopefully soon.

Slow as a Turtle

Posted by girlie on September 2, 2010

My son’s computer used to be really fast. We bought it last year and I can’t believe it has gotten a bit slow now. Someone told me that the cause of this the computer memory. I probably need an upgrade if I want it to be fast again. Of course who wants a slow computer especially if you happen to get used to a fast one. Sometimes I don’t get it, why is an upgraded needed so soon? It’s a good thing that computer memory is not really that expensive, we can do something about it anytime.

What’s Your Computer Memory

Posted by girlie on July 23, 2009

When buying a computer, what do you put into consideration. Are you buying a computer just for the sake of having one? Did you know that in the end you will not be able to save if you sacrifice the specification you want? I made sure that my computer memory is big enough. I know myself and I know how I use my computer. For me computer memory is really very important. If I need to do something or pay extra, I would still definitely go for it.

System Memory Upgrade

Posted by girlie on September 12, 2008

With the way my laptop is performing, I’m afraid I might need a system memory upgrade. Why did I not put this into consideration when I bought this laptop? Honestly? I’m clueless about these matters, shame on me. Now that I know that the performance of my computer is dependent on the amount and type of system memory, I know better next time. Now who wants to have a processor that performs below par? Tell me.

The Memory Cards Shop

Posted by girlie on August 16, 2008

Looks like I would be needing memory cards real soon. The ones we have are no longer working, well not all though. I am thinking of getting 8GB, but then again I don’t think it’s necessary. Maybe a 2GB will do, it will be faster when it comes to downloading. I get quite impatient having to wait. Yeah just a 2 GB. Have you noticed how prices of memory cards have gone down? I still remember how expensive it was buying memory cards back in early 2000.

Did you know that there is a new DB25 connector that was just released? It’s an improved version of the old DB connector that we used to know. This does not need soldering. This time it has gold plated contacts for a more reliable connection. The terminal block allows quick wiring changes. Yes, a far cry from the old DB25. Oh! So you’ve decided to get your own domain. Good! As I’ve mentioned a lot of times in this blog, there are a lot of advantages when you have your own domain. Ok, so what’s next? Ah, you should be very careful when it comes to web hosting. It plays a big role you know. You gotta pick the best web host. I’ll share with your the Best Web Hosts for 2008. From there you can pick whichever web host suits your requirements. Don’t follow me, I made a mistake when I picked my first web host. I had to shift to a better web host after 2 months. Get to the Top

Posted by girlie on June 24, 2008

Don’t we all love this?  Every website wants to land in the top position.  This is happening come Summer of 2008 when “X” will be launched by  www.servicewrap.net.  They have a different kind of website promotion that will list your website in the top 10 search engine ranking positions like Google, Yahoo, AltaVista and others. This will only mean one thing for your website, more income opportunities. When people search for something in the internet, its automatic that they go to these search engines. If you figure on top of all these search engines, you get all the clicks and that means more exposure for your products and services. This is important for the business.  Watch out for the launching of “X” and experience being on top of them all in 48 hours.

Memory Upgrade Needed

Posted by girlie on June 7, 2008

I think it’s about time for a system memory upgrade with my daughter’s computer. I hear her complain all the time that there’s no more space to store her music, pictures, and school stuff. I suggested that she erase some files which are not that important which she already did but still she needs more memory. I’ve asked my husband to look into this, now he does not have to since I found a website that sells just that and I’ve discovered that they offer the lowest price.

Bargain PC

Posted by girlie on May 31, 2008

I am indeed so happy that almost everyone can now own a PC. I really find it very useful, and not only that there are a lot more benefits one can get having a computer at home. I know everyone will agree with me, that having one at home makes “life” easier. There are a lot of things that can be done especially if you have internet connection. The reason why I’m saying that almost everyone can now own a PC because you can build a PC for $150. Isn’t that affordable? Owning a PC before was like for the rich only because of the price. Prices of PCs ten years ago is now equivalent to buying 5 or more PCs nowadays if you know how to go about it. You will be surprised to find out that you can now buy a motherboard with CPU for only $67 something. I am not kidding really. Here is the guide that will allow you to buy the Bargain PC I am talking about. I already went through the specifications and it seemed ok. I’m no pro at building computers, but almost all the brands they used are brands that I am familiar with, and this includes famous brands. Don’t get scared if you don’t know how to put it together, the instructions are easy to follow. But if you still can’t follow, there are a lot of books available to help you go through the steps once more.

Potential Dangers

Posted by girlie on May 27, 2008

I think I need a Keylogger, not for anything else but just to monitor what my kids are doing in this machine while I am away. Not that I don’t trust them, but sometimes they just have the wrong judgments. At their age, they can be gullible and can therefore be swayed easily. I just want to make sure that they go to websites appropriate for their age. I can’t be there to watch them 24/7. I am just thinking of my child’s safety online and by installing this software, I will be able to tell my child’s habits online. From there I will be able to lecture them on the sites they visit therefore harm can be avoided. There’s another feature of this software that I like too. It’s tiring to hit the save button every now and then. I do a lot of writing, and sometimes I get frustrated when something goes wrong. But with keylogger I am able to regain what I wrote. I find this very helpful.  There are actually a lot more benefits when keylogger is installed.  Even the activities of your employees can be monitored.  Not that you actually want to spy with what they are doing.  But we all know that working hours should be dedicated to working for the company and not for some other personal things.

DIY Pc Kits

Posted by girlie on May 15, 2008

One of our editors built his own computer. He couldn’t find a computer that matches his requirement. So what he did was to buy one of the pc kits that was according to his specifications. I asked him if he had a hard time doing it himself, and he said no. It was actually easy to assemble and what he was happy about above all was the great savings. It did not cost him that much to assemble the specification he wanted compared to the ones he saw at computer shops. I think I will need his help on this, err I think I can do it, I wouldn’t be a DIY queen if I can’t do this. So next time we need a new computer, I will consider using pc kits. It’s very important to save money nowadays.

There is Still so Much to Learn

Posted by girlie on May 6, 2008

As I was reading some entries in this web design blog, I realized that I will be getting a failing mark when it comes to technology. I must admit that I am not tech savvy, that’s why as much as possible I try to read and read. But there are times that I really do not understand what I am reading, everything seems foreign to me. So what I do, I dig more, hoping to get a clearer explanation. Sometimes I get lucky, sometimes not. Take for example the user accounts I keep encountering in my computer. What do I know about that? Not much, so I am not really using this function. But since I have read something about it, slowly but surely I am getting the idea what it is for. I know you often see that too in your computers. But do we really know what benefits we will be getting once we turn it on and off? I still have so much to learn and I’m getting it little by little through reading. Now what about your membership to the spyware community? This too is new to me. I’ve been getting alerts from my computer about software that are about to be installed. I am actually thankful because I find the warning quite helpful. It warns me of potentially unwanted software, and this makes me aware of the things that I need to accept or discard. If you are a member, Windows Defender will send basic information about the software to Microsoft.

RAM Upgrade

Posted by girlie on April 27, 2008

I think I need to upgrade my ram. If my daughter reads this, she would say the same thing. The ram that our laptops have right now is just too small for all the files including trash that we can’t part with. I guess my daughter needs it more really, because of all the music files she stores. I asked her to erase those that she does not listen too, but she insists that she wants to have it in her collection. The problem with erasing some songs, the moment she updates her iPod, that particular song she erased in her laptop will be gone in her iPod. Well that’s what she says. There is really no other recourse but to update her RAM to a larger one.
