Christmas Celebration

Posted by girlie on December 29, 2008

Photobucket We had a very simple Christmas Eve celebration, well compared to the past years. I only prepared chinese ham, 3 kinds of cheeses, baked macaroni, french cookies with strawberry jam, grapes, red wine and spritzer for the kids. Even if it was simple, we still enjoyed the conversation at the table. I didn’t drink much either, just a glass of wine probably because I was very tired. I made 16 loaves of banana bread to be given away to relatives on both sides on Christmas day. I wanted it freshly baked so I did it on the 24th.

Photobucket We visited the ILs for lunch, then proceeded to my side of the family at 3 pm for early dinner. It’s wonderful to be spending time with the family on Christmas Day. We get to see our loved ones, it was like a reunion.

After dinner, we proceeded to Trinoma for our yearly movie tradition, that is to watch a Vic Sotto film. Too bad the cinema was full, yep every seat was taken can you believe that? We were able to do our other Christmas tradition which is to adopt an “animal”. Will tell you more about it in another entry.

If you want to see more photos of the celebration, check out my flickr account.

Busy Bee

Posted by girlie on December 22, 2008

Really been busy preparing for the holidays. I wasn’t as busy last year, probably because I started preparing in November, you know buying gifts and all. But this year, seems like I’ve been harassed preparing for it. Maybe it’s because of a prior celebration (in-laws’ church wedding) which I had my full hands on. Shopping for the holidays was put aside. Preparing for the holidays is beginning to be a burden, yeah I know I shouldn’t be saying that, but with all the traffic (car and human) I’ve been experiencing lately, it can be draining. I don’t have a menu yet for the noche buena, but I know I can get by with all these. We will be going to Tagaytay a lil later, I need a break! It would be wonderful to experience a different kind of breeze.

Photobucket I was early though in the decors area ^_^

Photobucket My tree theme last year…poinsettias!

Not So Purple Tree

Posted by girlie on October 7, 2008

Photobucket So you think I’m crazy for putting up my tree this early? Oh well, I am late for a month, the department stores have put it up as early as September to lure customers. But really, the reason why I put it up this early is for us to enjoy it. Goodness it took days for that tree to be up with the ornaments, the lights and all. It’s no joke, it took me 3 hours to put all those ornaments. It’s pretty tiring, I want my tree to be up for at least three months, so effort will not be put to waste in such short a time.

Santa Experience

Posted by girlie on June 12, 2008

Photobucket I grew up loving Santa Claus. Yes just like the rest of the kids, I had my own share of Santa Claus strories. Nah I didn’t get any Letters from Santa but I got gifts. I remember getting gifts from Santa Claus until I was in 6th grade. We would always write Santa a letter letting him know what we wanted to receive for Christmas. It was always granted. My parents would always remind us to be good, so Santa Claus would give us our wish. Those were fun memories. Now I’m wondering, how does Santa’s handwriting look like? How is it receiving a Letter from Santa together with the gift? Come to think of it, I never got the answers I asked Santa Claus.

Now that I am a Mom myself, I too introduced my kids to Santa Claus. I wanted them to experience the Santa fever. They said it was fun. They would always ask our household help if Santa dropped off their gifts already. Just like me, they would leave a letter under the Christmas tree for Santa to see, expecting to see Santa’s presents on the eve of Christmas. Just like me, they never got a letter from Santa so they don’t know what its like.

But hey, your kids can receive Santa Letters. It would be great to see amazing faces lit up once they get a letter from Santa. Santa Claus is just a big deal to children. Let them have the fondest memories that would last a lifetime. Make it real as much as possible. Do you need help with this? Here’s a tip I can give you. At packagefromsanta.com, they will make it possible. Your kids will be receiving a personalized letter from Santa together with a box full of Santa goodies. After receiving the wonderful gift, each and everyone will try hard to make it to Santa’s Nice List for next Christmas.
