Shoes Made for Dancing

Posted by girlie on November 12, 2008

Photobucket I’d love to have this character shoes when I go dancing. Not that I go clubbing every night ^_^ but as many of you know by now, dancing is my form of exercise. I dance twice a week. I have my dancing shoes though, but I feel it’s gonna “die” on me anytime soon. Yep, I only have a pair and you can just imagine how old it looks now, and really really worn out. I love dancing in heels, a 3-in. one. Dancing moves become quite sexy. I am not kidding, it sort of gives a different kind of sway. I used to wear sneakers or ballet shoes when I dance. But when I discovered that dancing in heels is cool and nice to look at, I think I now prefer dancing in heels. No, you don’t dance with just any kind of shoes, unless you want to get injured. There’s a special shoes made for dancing. It’s really comfortable and very light. Sometimes I don’t feel like I have shoes on. And you know what? Since my dancing shoes is really beautiful, I’ve been attempting to wear it outside the dance floor. Upon the advice of my teacher, she said that dancing shoes are not made for walking. Darn! So there, remember wear dancing shoes when you are in the dance floor, and don’t forget to change into something else when you are out of the dance floor, otherwise you are going to hurt yourself.

24-inch Waistline

Posted by girlie on August 2, 2008

Let me share with you something that will help you achieve a “24-inch waistline”, err at least close to it, or the equivalent of the “coca-cola bod”. Whatever size you are in right now and if you are not satisfied with the measurement of your waist, then this is for you. It really works I tell you. I used to look like a bean bag before I did belly dancing. But now, semi bean bag it is, LOL. But really, I may not have the “to die for” waistline, but it’s now trimmed if you know what I’m saying. I do mayas before bed almost regularly. I wish I can take a vid of my version of maya, but I’m shy you know, harhar. Just watch the video I found in youtube, and promise me to do it every night for at least 15 minutes to slowly achieve that vavavooom body!

Treadmill and DVD

Posted by girlie on July 23, 2008

Photobucket I decided to be really serious when it comes to my workout. I’ve been really lazy lately, well except for my twice a week belly dancing class which I look forward to. But I feel that it’s still lacking. I need to exercise (cardio) more. The treadmill is just sitting in the corner of the house unused. Yesterday I walked for about 30 minutes at a speed of 2.7. I couldn’t go any faster since I was watching a belly dancing DVD. Not a good combination coz I wanted to dance with Nina and Veena, lol. Tell me can you do belly dancing while on the treadmill? Anyways, after my 30-minute walk, I followed the instructional vid of Nina and Veena which concentrated on the hips, buns and thighs. Again for another 30 minutes. So total workout yesterday was an hour. Today I’m sitting it out in the computer blogging. Can’t do cardio everyday you know, well that’s what my trainer said before.

BellyFest 2008 : 26th Weekend Snapshot

Posted by girlie on July 1, 2008

Photobucket The opening number.

Photobucket Regine Tolentino the featured special guest doing her belly dance moves.

Photobucket Teacher Gladys doing the veil dance.

Photobucket My two classmates, Faye and Jerra.

BellyFest 2008 was held last Saturday at the Glorietta Mall. Nope I did not join this time for some reasons. But I was there to give my support to my teacher and other classmates who participated. I took some photos of the show and I’m sharing some of it with you guys. The show was fun, and yeah I lost my voice because I kept cheering when it was my classmates’ turn to dance. It was more aggravated by the Pacquiao Vs. Diaz fight. I think I already mentioned in one of my entries here that I normally cheer when I watch boxing. And I get loud ^_^

She’s Back!

Posted by girlie on June 3, 2008

Photobucket If not for this, she could not have joined our belly dancing class. When Cuz the able Chairman texted me that she is in the province, I asked her what the specialty of that province was and I asked her to bring me some (ang kapal ng mukha ko, heehee). She took me seriously, haha as if I was not serious when I asked her. Anyway, she said that the “pasalubong” (refer to the picture) was one of the reasons why she went to Regine’s Dance Studio. Thank God He found a way to bring back my dear Cuz who is pretty much busy with her chores a Barangay Chairman to some fitness program. I truly miss her, and I’m sure everyone else misses her too. I was like jumping and screaming with joy when I saw her at the studio. Not that I didn’t expect her to be there because she texted me if I was going dancing. I on my part invited her to join us once again, but she said she’ll try. Looking forward to belly dance class with you Cuz. Let’s shimmy til we drop, hehe hindi na shop til we drop, we are past that stage. Duh!

Back to Normal

If you noticed, I have not been online for longer periods since the beginning of this week. We were busy preparing for Regine Tolentino’s Dance School Annual Summer Program. As usual I was stuck doing the beading of my costume, yep last minute again. I didn’t want to have a new costume but I don’t know why I changed my mind. Probably because there was a bra that was halfway done already only sitting in the drawer. So I thought, why not continue doing it. All my time was spent with beads, thread and needle. I had to do my SPs in a hush, and in between. I didn’t have that much time visiting the blogs in my blogroll. I had some time spent over at twitter, well I can’t do away with it. I already have more than 2000 twits. So now you know why, lol. Since Monday we have been practicing hard, spending like 4 hours in the dance studio polishing our routine. It was no joke dancing in heels. I felt my leg muscles harden coupled with backaches. Ahhh the joys of participating in a recital. I treated it more like excercise really, so my body felt good. The hard part is waking up at 3 in the morning just to get ready for the big day. I know, why that early? Because once again, the recital was featured in Unang Hirit at GMA 7. We once again got our 1 minute fame, lol.

Tee

Posted by girlie on April 16, 2008

Photobucket Remember I was asked by teacher to teach the basics of belly dancing to Pecto for the show Day Off? That shirt is what I got as token. Actually this is just one of the stuff given to our teacher but she shared her blessings with me. I like the shirt a lot but I don’t like to wear it. I just wanna keep it as a remembrance. Hmmm, let’s see if I can stop myself from wearing it. The episode is not shown yet, I don’t have any idea when it’s gonna be shown. I told Teacher to just text me if it’s going to be aired already. I’m sure they will inform her.

Day Off

Posted by girlie on March 27, 2008

Photobucket This picture was taken last Monday. We (me and Faye) were tasked by Teacher Gladys to teach Pecto ( one of the hosts of QTV’s Day Off) the basic moves of belly dancing. I didn’t know that it will be televised, had I known I would have backed off. Well partly I did, but I thought that the one that will be televised was us in the background as students of Pecto. Anyway I can’t do anything about it, so I just enjoyed myself. Teacher really had her day off that day. I don’t have any idea where the people of the show brought her, I have to wait until the episode is shown. I think the idea of the show “Day Off” is really to give day off to employees/workers. The show’s hosts will take their place, something like that. Then they will be treated with a few luxuries, well I don’t know, have to watch the show to have an idea.

Tired but Happy!

Posted by girlie on March 14, 2008

belly1.jpg  I just came from my belly dancing class.  Boy oh boy am I tired!  There were three of us students only, so Teacher Gladys was able to concentrate and check all our moves.  I like it when there are few students only, I can move freely without thinking that I might elbow my dance buddies, harhar.  Oh I’m talking about the turns and all, it’s not limited.  Yeah I can be that selfish sometimes, but most of the time I consider the people around me.  Teacher added a few more steps to our “cane” routine, and I’m enjoying it to the max.  She even noticed that none of us felt tired even if she made us dance again and again.   I wish I can take a video of our dance routine to share with you guys, so you’d know that it’s really fun dancing with the cane.

Guest Instructor

Posted by girlie on December 3, 2007

pacita1.JPG That’s me with Pacita. She was our special guest teacher in belly class today. She is an excellent and terrific belly dance instructor. Although she taught us for only 30 minutes, I got some techniques which I hope I can remember and be able to execute it right. She’ll be back this friday for a whole 2 1/2 hours I hope. Ish is excited too. The moment I got home, the first thing she asked me was if “she” was good. We are both looking forward to friday! Btw I think she’s filipina but I’m having second thoughts though because of her surname which is Prasarn. I’m gonna ask her on friday, sorry this is actually the first time I’ve heard about her.

Fruitful Week

Posted by girlie on October 21, 2007

Wahoo! I’m done with tutoring, 2nd Grading Periodical Test Week is over. It was a very toxic week, I didn’t know how I managed. I always had to wake up early, to prepare lunch meal for the kids, checked the reviewers, tutor the kids after lunch, start preparing for the evening meal, teach them again after dinner. My only time to do sponsored posts was when everyone’s already settled and asleep. It’s so hard to do sponsored posts in between bloghopping. So I always end up sleeping at 2 in the morning.

Friday was a treat for me. I was able to sleep until 10 in the morning. Ahhhh it feels good. In the afternoon, I went to Union Bank to open an eon visa cyber account which has a tie up with paypal. Hopefully all the payments for the sponsored thingy will be credited to this account. Thanks to Rowena, I actually read it in one of her twitter messages. Although I already opened one with Security Bank, I just wasn’t sure if it had a tie up with paypal.

I was able to attend belly dancing class too. I missed 2 sessions already and was happy to be back. We had our bonding moment after class when we had dinner at Tempura with my dancing buddies. Too bad Rica wasn’t able to join us, miss you girlfriend!

Official Driver of the Week

Posted by girlie on September 27, 2007

Our driver is still sick. He didn’t come to work since Monday. N’s the one bringing the kids to school in the morning, and I’m the one bringing them food for lunch. No, this time I’m not the one cooking. I just can’t wake up that early anymore to be able to prepare the food. Nights have been spent researching for the Library Research Report of my son, teaching the kids with their assignments, doing sponsored posts, answering emails and a little bloghopping. 24 hours is just not enough. Internet connection has been acting up for the last couple of days too, that I had to wait til one in the morning. Thank God, kids don’t have classes tomorrow in honor of the birthday of Confucious. I’m gonna sit my butt out tonight and try to beat the deadline.

bead.JPG This is what I have been doing while waiting for the kids’ dismissal. I started this a couple of months back and have not touched it really since I started doing paid posts. Haha, I’m almost done with the other cup. The question is, when can I finish it? It’s only when I wait for the kids that I feel like doing it, since there is no internet cafe near the school where I can spend my waiting time. ^_^ I can’t go home either, I need to save on gas, school is like 4-5 kilometer away from our house.

**I think I’ve put on some weight. All we do is eat and eat while waiting for the dismissal. Imagine stuffing my mouth for 8 hrs, yes that’s how long we wait for them. Maybe that’s the reason why I have plenty zits too, I eat too much junk food!**

Practicing for December

Posted by girlie on September 25, 2007

The kids have been learning this dance routine (hiphop belly) for about two sessions already. They will perform this at the planned dance recital come December. Nothing is final yet, but hopefully it will push through.

Inspired by KC’s Peep Toes Shoes

Posted by girlie on August 3, 2007

style1.jpg

I was inspired more like jealous of KC’s collection of shoes in different colors that I decided to buy my own peep toes when I went to 168 Shopping Mall yesterday.  I think it’s made in Korea, and comes in different colors.  I wanted to get the mustard one to go with my Furla bag, but too bad they didn’t have my size.

That’s what I wore today when I attended belly dancing class.  Would you believe I bought that bag at Bakers in Philly for only $6,  my sister and I went gaga when we saw the bags in different colors and were on sale.  We bought around 8 that time.  Actually the top and the pants were on sale too, just forgot how much, probably below $10 each.  With a total of $30 more or less, I can look good ^_^

Yay! Finally

Posted by girlie on July 10, 2007

Oh yes! BFF finally joined belly class today. I’m happy that she decided to continue dancing after 6 months. Way to go cuz! I’m overjoyed that we shall see each other at least twice a week. Let’s shimmy together…all right?

Arrrgh! It Hurts!

Posted by girlie on July 9, 2007

It’s good to be back dancing again. I didn’t attend class after the BellyFest…a lot of things came up. And guess what greeted me? All isolations! It’s pretty hard doing it. Imagine doing the shimmy combined with hip roll, figure 8 and reverse, maya and reverse, camel and reverse. But it’s really good for toning. Teacher asked us to do our assignment at home, meaning spend time doing it until it’s perfect, i guess close to perfect will do ^_^

Now my mid section hurts…and the good news? I did the isolation the correct way, teehee!

Belly Fest 2007

Posted by girlie on June 12, 2007

Belly Fest 2007 was a success! It was held last June 9, 2007 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater at Ateneo. It was really fun being part of the show. We were there as early as 3 in the afternoon to do a dance at the fairgrounds. The show proper started at 7 in the evening, lasted til i guess before 12. Nope we didn’t get to do the curtain call, we were really starving. Good thing the restaurants within the area close late so we were able to grab a bite. N enjoyed the show a lot and was able to get pretty good pictures.

Beading Time

Posted by girlie on May 30, 2007

I’m making new tops for the forthcoming Bellyfest 2007 on June 9 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater at Ateneo de Manila. It’s gonna be at 7 pm and we’re one of the featured recitalists. This is the first Philippine Belly Dance Festival. Ish requested for a purple costume, and I’m making myself a yellow one. I had our skirts sewn, otherwise if I do it myself, we’d go bottomless ^_^. At least i’m done with the purple top and still working on the blue one, gosh I still have to do the yellow. OMG it’s a lot of work still plus I have to do some beadworks on the skirts. Thank God Elma (one of my angels) is helping me out at least with the skirts. So if I’m not able to visit your blogs, please forgive me, I’ll make it up to you once I’m done with all these. And if you’re wondering why I’m able to do some sponsored posts, well your guess is as good as mine ^_^

Away For a Holiday

If i’m missing in action, it’s because we’ll be away for a holiday. I’m leaving you these pictures taken during our recent summer recital. (Click photos for larger file)

Dance…Dance…Dance

Posted by girlie on May 17, 2007

Man! We are dead tired! We danced practically for 6 hours yesterday…the longest. We are preparing for tomorrow’s dance recital which will be featured in GMA’s Unang Hirit. I don’t know how we can dance that early. Regine said our call time is around 5 in the morning, and that means we have to be up at around 3? No way! Honestly I don’t know how we’re gonna do it.I’m happy that Ish is dancing with me. She only started in May and she’s joining the recital. She was able to memorize the 3 dance routines in like 5 sessions, and to think that she doesn’t have a background in belly dancing. She still has to learn the basic. Too bad school starts in June and she can no longer join us.

Bits and Pieces

Posted by girlie on May 11, 2007

If you noticed lately, I have been including sponsored posts in my blog. And i’m happy to share that the two posts i’ve written have been approved. Well I’m just waiting for them to mail my check (i’ll keep you posted). Since I have been endorsing a lot of products here in my site, I thought why not get paid. The funny thing when it’s a sponsored post, I find myself in front of the laptop longer than my usual almost everyday posts. Sometimes I just find it hard to endorse products, or talk about a certain sites. There are actually a lot of sponsored posts that you can take, but then again it’s very hard to write about things that you can’t relate to. If I get my first check in the amount of US$55, I promised myself to get a dot com, now isn’t that cool ^_^

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My daughter Ish decided to join me in my belly dancing class. The first time I brought her there, she had second thoughts of joining. But she made up her mind one day and now we belly dance together. I bought her two sets of costumes in Divisoria for her to use on the 18th for another recital. I was thinking of making her one, but I just don’t have the time to do it. I don’t wanna feel stressed out just like the last time. I know it’s my fault coz I’m fond of doing things at the last minute. And yeah, I don’t think her Dad will allow her to use those bra type tops that I normally go for. Now is that an excuse? ^_^
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cuz has been sharing with me this Korean brand of makeup called The Face Shop since last year. I didn’t have the time to check it out until last Tuesday when my SIL invited me to go to Serendra. I bought their eye and lips makeup remover. It’s oil free and alcohol free. I think I like it, it’s not harsh even if a little goes into your eye. I also bought their pink lipstick.

Belly Dancing & Yoga

Posted by girlie on January 15, 2007

This is the reason why I look forward to Mondays and Fridays. Belly dancing class gets exciting more and more. Since we already had our first dance performance, teacher said that it’s high time that we do “advance”. “Advance” means having to incorporate a lil of yoga to our routine, to be able to be more flexible. There are a lot more benefits of doing yoga which I hope to achieve. Like improve more on my posture, increase my endurance and energy level, be able to have a sound sleep, improve balance, and most of all the flexibility factor. These are just but a few, and I hope to achieve more. For first timers like me, arrrrgggg, it’s an agony, body aches all over, but it feels good and gets to be very relaxing. What a start for year 2007!

Performing for Family and Friends

Posted by girlie on December 11, 2006

We already had our christmas party in the studio where I attend belly dancing classes. We had fun performing for our families and friends. We got to wear the costumes and was able to do all routines that we were suppose to do in the so called “recital”. Our teacher wants to call it a “mini recital” but I’d rather call it a performance. The audience really appreciated our moves, and I can see from their faces that they really enjoyed the show. I asked Isha to take photos coz N decided to take a video instead. Do I have pictures while performing you ask? NONE, as in NONE, and when I asked her, this is what she told me. “But Mom, I was enjoying the show that I didn’t like to take pictures”. So there, I don’t have photos, but I have a video which I can’t upload to YouTube right now because of the file size. I also couldn’t edit it in Windows Movie Player, it does not support .VOB files. I need a hundred years to figure it out…so for now I guess these pictures will do. I had to crop/blur some of the pictures to show only myself, I forgot to ask them it it’s ok to post our pictures in the blog.

Panic Mode

Posted by girlie on November 11, 2006

Pardon me if I haven’t posted in quite a while, much as I want to, but you see I’m in a PANIC MODE! Since I learned that we will have a dance recital on the 3rd of December, doing my costumes take much of my time. Why not buy, or have one made by a pro you say…well I don’t really wanna spend that much moolah, imagine 1 costume would cost you about P3,500 (roughly around $70), and we need 4, 1 for each dance routine. So what I did, I bought some materials in Divisoria…spent around P1,300 ($26) only. Then I looked for instructions in the internet on how to make a circle skirt, woohoo! I was able to do it! Remember I am a certified DIY Momma!

I have to double time too on this. I asked our helper to take it out of the storeroom, and put it upstairs near our bedroom.

I can’t stop myself from eating chocolates, chips, anything I find in the house, thus, a bulging tummy.

Here’s a preview of what we are going to wear in our upcoming Dance Recital. We were asked by our teacher to wear our costumes, put on some make-up, and smile a lot. Want to know the reason why? We will be featured on Channel 23 (I exactly don’t know when) and had a photoshoot for some magazine.

ooooppppssss, cheating! Sorry I don’t memorize the routine quite well, but i’m getting there
