Want to Lose Weight?

Posted by girlie on September 28, 2007

I just came across this product called  hoodia, it’s a diet pill that helps suppress a person’s appetite therefore promotes weight loss. Hoodia is a plant that looks like a cactus, it contains Hoodia Gordonii, an element known to have a natural botanical ability to suppress appetite. Remember, hoodia is not effective once it is mixed with other components. It should have sufficient amount of hoodia concentrate in order for it to be effective. Be very careful when it comes to buying this product, read hoodia’s buying guide.

Hubby’s Treat

Posted by girlie on September 20, 2007

facial.JPG facial1.JPG facial3.JPG  We finally found time today to go for our facials. It’s suppose to be a monthly thing, but we missed out on August because of our busy schedules. Good news! They got a little white heads today, compared to July’s which was really yucky, black and white heads combined. Today I had deep cleansing with collagen mask, they say collagen is to firm the facial muscles. Last July I had deep cleansing too but with seaweed mask for open and large pores. They suggest that I go alternate, they only recommend this two facials for me. She suggested too that I go for power peel, well I have to think it over because it’s kinda pricey, I still have to save for that. I don’t think N will treat with me a power peel.

Reminder: If you can, you might also want to have monthly facials, it helps especially now that we’re getting a little, you know what ^_^ It’s not actually vanity, but just taking care of your skin.

.:: Jolie’s Lips ::.

Posted by girlie on July 25, 2007

I have thin lips, so once in a while I dream of owning Angelina’s pouty lips. Since I wanted very much to have pouty lips, I checked this out at Beauty Bar. The first time I applied it to my lips, I felt uneasy, a bit perspiring too because of the sting it gives to the lips. Now you ask if I achieved the pouty look? NOT AT ALL! Have to manually pout, harhar ^_^ But I’m not losing hope, the girl behind the counter said that if I apply it frequently, it just might work! Btw, this is my second purchase for that purpose. The other one I bought at Face Shop, and didn’t work too. I guess I need an injection or something.

Perfect Eyes…at least for ME!

Posted by girlie on June 15, 2007

I promised myself before I left for Hong Kong that I’d be looking for an electronic eyelash curler. I’ve been wanting to have this since I can’t remember when. It’s just too much of a hassle for me to be heating my curlash with a blow dryer. So when I found this in one of the shops there, I was just too happy to have it. This product won the bronze award at the Invention Convention. So when I got home, I immediately used it to my dismay. It wouldn’t really curl my lashes, my heart sank. I started reading the manual that went with it. It said that it is most effective if you use it after putting mascara…ahhhh no wonder. Now I’m a happy girl err woman!

Another great find was Maybelline’s Lash Stylist. Instead of a brush wand, Lash stylist had a comb wand. This works well for me at least. These are just two of the products I’d like to share with you and I swear it works perfectly!

Double Ouch!

Posted by girlie on April 3, 2007

After a hard day’s work (wedding coverage), I was treated by N to a foot spa. I miss having my feet done, although I don’t look forward to it coz i’m tickled pink whenever someone else touches my feet. It’s just that I needed it badly, the skin is dry and flaky and needs a buff. How I wish the procedure is relaxing, but really it’s not, aside from the fact that it tickles, it hurts too. The attendant says I have sensitive skin.

*******************************

The kids requested if I can make them some cookies today…so I did. I made them 3 batches of oatmeal-choco chip cookies, and a batch of chewy chocolate cookies. Josh even helped…made some gingerbread man shapes, and he enjoyed a lot. He can’t even wait for it to be baked, while shaping them, some goes to his mouth too, and he says it’s yummy. Isha does the same too…when I tried it, true enough it was as yummy as the baked ones. And yeah, i burned my thumb, I don’t know how it happened, im usually careful when I take out the cookie sheets from the oven, but still. Oh well…want some cookies?

"You Look Young"

Posted by girlie on March 27, 2007

Wow Mom! you look young(ish)…this is what my son Josh said when I got home. I finally found time to go to the salon for my much needed rebonding. The reason why I had been delaying this rebonding thingy is because I was soooo scared that if I had my hair rebonded, instead of it being straight it would turn out freezy. Why you ask? Because it was also Josh who said that I looked like a witch with my jet black hair and he wanted me to go back to my color which meant bleaching. And did you know that when you have your hair rebonded you’re not suppose to wash your hair for 3 days. Yikes…3 days of itch, smell and all. But despite the fact, I wasn’t looking forward to wash my hair. You see when I went to Tony & Jackey, they didn’t really want to do my hair because of its condition. They didn’t want to use their (korean) products but opted for L’oreal Extenso instead, and that means a more expensive one. And they still did not guarantee that I was to have silky straight soft hair. And with their parting words: “After you wash your hair and you find something wrong, don’t panic, just give us a call and will fix it for free.” What encouraging parting words…so I really didn’t look forward to washing my hair. Thank God it turned out ok, i’m back to straight soft hair, and as Josh would put it I look young(ish).

TOTAL Update

Posted by girlie on January 21, 2007

before——————-after 18 days

after 4.5 months

It might not really show in the pictures above, but the truth is, there is really a very big improvement on my face. I can see it and others too, in fact i’ve gotten some positive comments. But it’s still nothing compared to what you see on TV, I mean the results and all ( we all know that it’s computer manipulated or some lighting effects). But I am so happy, not only with the results, but I have learned to religiously take care of my face. I’ve taken it forgranted until I decided to use this product. It has not been in my daily routine to cleanse and moisturize, but now it has become a part of me. Isn’t that great?

My Newest Find

Posted by girlie on December 20, 2006

I’m dreaming of having this, but I know it’s very impossible. Maybe if I was doing make up for a living, then it can be a dream come true. But for now, I should settle for the piece by piece that I have been buying, until I get the whole collection.

There are different brands of mineral make up available. I haven’t checked all the makeup counters of all the malls we have here, but im very sure that these two brands are available locally.

Youngblood Natural Mineral Foundation (available at Beauty Bar)
“This incredibly unique silky powder is a foundation, concealer and powder all in one! It offers exceptional, high performance coverage, is easy to use and is non-comedogenic. The mineral foundation glides on all skin types beautifully to give natural, healthy coverage and a translucent glow.”
I say it’s true, it’s a matter of knowing how to apply it, takes a lot of practice though, but the end result is really awesome. It’s not sticky, and it doesn’t get sticky at all even when you’re already home ready to take it off. This is what I love about it, my finger glides when I touch my face…really!

Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil (available online locally)
“Designed to be worn over foundation, Mineral Veil is a perfectly sheer, matte finish powder that helps to eliminate shine while minimizing the appearance of pores. Cornstarch-based, it’s as light as a feather, so all you see is shine-free skin. Ideal for all skin tones and types. Contains no talc, fragrance, or binders.”

It didn’t totally eliminate the shine, but it minimized it. I don’t think any product can eliminate the shine on my face…you can even cook sunny side up with all the oil, harhar. It’s ok though, coz they say that oily skin delays ageing…look at me…heh!

Bare Escentuals Glee (available online locally)

“Put on a happier face with Glee, an allover face color provided by Bare Escentuals. Apply it to those areas of your face that naturally glow when you are happy or excited. Achieving a happy glow is the inspiration behind this earthy-rosy mineral powder.”

Be careful when applying this though, if you don’t want to look like a clown. Again I say that the secret of mineral make up is in the application and of course you should have a very good brush to achieve even more.

What TV Ads Can Do

Posted by girlie on December 6, 2006

What tv ads can to do our lives really…once again, I was lured in buying this product, even half believing if it can really repair in just 3 days, as what they claim. For me the answer is no, probably because of what my hair’s gone through…countless rebonding, blowdrying, ironing, hair color, bleach, etc. I own the most abused crowning glory. But really, you gotta try this product…it has improved my hair condition, not to the bouncy, silky, soft hair that you see on the ad after using it for 3 days, not even close to it…but it had a very good effect on my hair. I had less falling hair, I can now go out of the house even without blowdrying and ironing, I swear!

After 18 days

Posted by girlie on October 18, 2006

before—————————–after

Eeeeewwww…I know, and I admit that these are not glamourous photos…but I promised a few individuals that I would be posting a before and after photo, to be able to see the difference after I used Olay’s Total Effects. So that is the result after 18 days of use. In a way it has improved my skin condition, it’s not as dull anymore, some lines are gone, marks have faded quite a bit, made my cheeks a lil rosy. As what CUZ had said, it’s the other people who would notice really the difference. I couldn’t stop grinning while typing this entry as I remember what Cuz said…”uy baka mag foundation ka sa after picture ha” (apply foundation for the “after” shots)…honestly? I had that in mind…harhar…but nah, I didn’t do it ;~)

Fights Aging

Posted by girlie on October 2, 2006

Since the time I saw it’s commercial on tv, it has never left my mind. But it took another 2 commercial models to convince me that indeed it can work miracles. Upon seeing the new commercial, I sent an sms to CUZ telling her that I’m now more convinced on buying it coz of Pie Calayan’s flawless facial skin. I got disappointed again and on the verge of changing my mind when I got a reply from Cuz. “Pie Calayan has really beautiful skin, I don’t think she got that from the product.” But when I saw a friend last Saturday, and he showed me his face and said…hhhmmm…olay’s total effects, I was again convinced that indeed this product can make wonders. So I sent another SMS to Cuz and told her that the product seems to work…I can really see the improvement. And guess what? I got all excited and bought the product first thing in the morning. I hope it holds true to it’s promise of:

Get the Look

Posted by girlie on September 27, 2006

There are days that you just don’t welcome the idea of a “parlor look”, when going somewhere, right? I know a few peeps who really go to salons to have their face and hair done when attending parties, or just plain chilling out. If you are not one of them, here’s a very easy to follow steps I got from iVillage (Beauty and Style Section), an alternative to the stiff “parlor look”.

Step 1: Wash hair with a gentle shampoo and make sure to rinse thoroughly.

Step 2: Remove any knots or snarls with a detangling conditioner. Apply from the ends of hair to just two inches below the roots, and distribute using a wide-tooth comb.

Step 3: Gently towel dry.

Step 4: Apply a dime-sized amount of texturizing balm; this will coat the hair shaft in addition to protecting hair from the heat of the blow-dryer. Evenly disperse product

Step 5: Flip hair over and blow-dry, lifting hair at the roots as you go. Stop when hair is 90 percent dry.

Step 6: Starting at the top of the scalp, gently rake fingers through hair so that it “settles” back into place.

Step 7: The next step is twofold ?- first you wrap the hair around a brush, and then you transfer it to a large Velcro roller. Working with inch-and-a-half sections of hair, start at the crown. Proceed to wrap each section around a large round brush to blow-dry, then transfer hair from the brush to a large Velcro roller. Continue until you have three rollers down the middle, two on each side of the head and four to six at the back.

Step 8: Spray a hair volumizer to the set and allow the rollers to sit for about 10 minutes. While you’re waiting you can apply your makeup.

Step 9: Remove curlers carefully and gently rake fingers through hair.

Step 10: Take a section of hair from both corners of the front of the scalp nearest your forehead (you can use the ends of your eyebrows as benchmarks) and bring the ends together into a mini updo. Secure with two bobby pins.

Step 11: Spray entire head with a sheer hold hairspray.

Five Must-Have Looks…plus One

Posted by girlie on September 19, 2006

Source: MSN Shopping

I’m sharing this to those who have not come across it yet. This is actually for Fall Season, but what the heck, if it can make us pretty, then why not. As one book says, “There are no ugly women, just LAZY!” Come on, put out the kits and let’s do it together.

Jewel toned-Eyelids - it’s colorful smoky eye, so sweep on a single layer of soft gold from lashline to crease for day, blue or gem-like green on your lid and a slightly darker hue defining the crease at night.

I used to think that you can achieve the smoky eye effect when you sweep on either black or charcoal gray, was surprised that blue and green can be used too.

Rosy Cheeks - this year it’s all about the crimson hue. Getting red in the face is about to take on a whole new meaning, but go lightly to avoid the “clown face”. Apply starting at the apples of your cheeks and blending just a bit up into your hairline.

Berry-Stained Lips - to wear darker lip colors, “staining” is the answer. Berry shades dabbed on the middle of your top and bottom lip and then simply blended out with a brush (or better yet, your fingertips), look dramatic without being overdone (and they won’t cancel out those smoky eyes). Hint — leave the ultra-shiny glosses behind.

I’ve always loved this shade, everytime I buy, I always play around with berry shades. But darn it, I just got myself an ultra-shiny lipgloss.

Bigger Brows - Growing Bold - Smoldering eyeliner, rich lips and cheeks in full bloom abound this season and eyebrows follow suit. They are less refined, less arched, and follow your natural growth line much more than in years past. Don’t shape them as much as tidy them up, and keep the arch subtle rather than sharp.

I use dark brown for my brows. Yay, so finally i’m in. I don’t need to spend time getting the perfect shape, the perfect arch, and even if it’s a lil darker, no need to worry, BOLD is in.

Smudged Liners - Go For Smoke - This is no time to stay on the straight and narrow, Defined eyes are the look. Use a soft, fat pencil to lay down the line, and a cotton swab to soften it up.

I’ve been using a liquid liner, so i guess I have to put it away for now, instead i can use an eye makeup specifically in dark colors to have a smudged liner look.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This isn’t included in the list but today, I got myself 12 medium sized velcro curlers. I so envy CUZ whenever I see her sporting curly hair. It’s like she’s having her hair done by a professional all the time. And her secret? hhhmmmm, those baterry sized velcro curlers. She wears them overnight, putting a little mousse or setting lotion, and when she wakes up, tada…beautiful parlor made hair. This is a very good alternative to curling irons, which could damage your hair due to the heat. If you can’t stand sleeping with the curlers, you can use a hair dryer set on medium heat, aimed at the curlers.

Dark Elbows

Posted by girlie on August 21, 2006

Do you have problems with dark elbows? Elbows that looked like it was dipped in a pool of mud? Ok, I’m quite exaggerating here…but I found some remedies for it, this product isn’t really made to solve dark elbow problems, just figured it out that yeah maybe, it could after all…it’s not an overnight thingy huh…

WHY IT WORKS: This one receives a lot of fan-mail. While lemon oil softens your cuticles and strengthens your nails, vitamin E helps heal, sweet almond oil moisturizes, and beeswax seals in moisture. Your cuticles will be softer and your nails will be stronger. You’ll feel results immediately. You can use it on your toes, too. Toe cuticles. That sounds funny.

HOW IT WORKS: Massage a small amount into cuticle and nail (or other areas) one or more times a day. For an intensive overnight treatment, apply generously to hands and nails before retiring.

WHY IT WORKS: The perfect moisturizer for hard working hands: everyone loves it from farmers to people who gesticulate. It’s our most intensive hand treatment with ingredients that offer healing benefits. Almond oil moisturizes. Rosemary stimulates circulation and lavandin helps prevent scarring. What hands wouldn’t love it?

HOW IT WORKS: Apply our healing salve to hands as often as needed.

Really I swear it works…I am a fan of Burt’s Bees …they have a wide variety of products to choose from…go ahead, click away, you might find something suitable for your needs.
