How to Invest Your Money

Posted by girlie on May 31, 2010

The stock market is low, business is going down, everything seems to be going down. So how do we invest our money? That is the question commonly asked by people who have extra money to spare to put into business. I would say nothing can go wrong in investing in gold. I got the idea from my father-in-law who was into it. He is a living example. He will always mention that it is wise to buy gold coins rather than put your money in a business you are not sure about. I know there is a risk in every endeavor you get into so why take it? Others would say why not, who knows I can be successful with it. I agree too, but then again to me I would put my money where I would gain in return.

If You Can, Then I Can

Posted by girlie on

Do you get disappointed that even though you try hard nothing seems to work? I often feel that especially when it comes to my love affair with my weight. You might not find me really big, but to me I am big already. I have a small frame so those fats are really noticeable. What I don’t like about it is they go to the wrong places. I hate my mid-section a lot and it really frustrates me that nothing is happening even if I do my share of crunches and all. I sometimes think of giving up and I think this is normal because I’ve read it in some weight loss success stories. They also reach the point that they get tired and frustrated too but they have continued with their goal of having a fit body. If they can do it, I can too! Yeah I can!

I <3 Michael Cinco

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket This is not the first time I’ve watched Michael Cinco’s collection in a show, and everytime I watch it it amazes me to the max. I will never get tired watching his shows and every piece he makes is jaw-dropping. Every time a model comes out, I would say WOW! Amazing indeed! Now do I dream of wearing one of his collections? My answer is NO, not for anything else but I CAN’T afford it. I heard his gowns cost millions. Oh that photo was taken last night at the Philippine Fashion Week.

Sorry for the photo, took it using my camera phone. I hope to grab the best shot from the husband who is the official photographer of Philippine Fashion Week.

Just Make Sure

Posted by girlie on May 29, 2010

What do you look for in a product? Is it important to you that it gets the approval of FDA? I mean the real FDA because there are products that say they are FDA approved but are not. Yeah talking about those scams and all. Now how will you know if indeed those pills are approved? Well you can always check fda approved diet pills and see if the pill you’ve chosen is included in the list. If you are not satisfied, you can research more for your own peace of mind, right? I’m actually doing this right now especially if the product has something to do with health. It’s scary to be taking something that you have very little knowledge of.

Fake Scam

Posted by girlie on

There are a lot of scams going on in this world. Some are true, some are not. But I really pity those people who have been victimized. I actually know of some who have been victimized and life is not the same for them. There are just people who are very trusting, they are born with it. It’s not because they are being lured or something, it’s just that they don’t think ill of others. What about those made up scams just to be able to put down something? This could be done by competitors and it’s just sad that this too is happening. Take for example this apidexin scam. Based on my readings, there is no truth to it. Hopefully the company who came out with this pill is not affected at all. Well they are still number one in the market and that is probably the reason why someone wants them out.

I Can Style

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket

I so love Looklet, it’s my current thing now and I’d pick it anytime over Facebook. You can see my styling moods at the sidebar. I really love fashion, anything to do with fashion you’ll get my full attention. This is probably the reason why I love to dress too, but my style is very simple. You’ll see it in my looklet page, everything I put together is wearable. But sometimes I want to explore too, and yeah I go wild with my styling. If I look at the pieces and thinks it’s impossible to put them all together and when I do and it looks good, I give myself a pat on the shoulders just like saying, you did a very good job. I want to do styling for a living, but I know I still have a lot to learn, it’s just a plus factor that you know what looks good or not but still there are “rules” to be followed and what not or shall we say the no nos in styling.

A Good Night’s Rest

Posted by girlie on May 28, 2010

I thank God that I always have a good night’s rest. Ever since I didn’t have any problem when it comes to sleeping. There are nights that it’s not as sound, but most nights it is. My heart really goes out to those who have problems with sleeping. I know how important sleep is and I also know how someone feels when he lacks sleep. I have this friend who is into pill. She says there are some that works and some not. I should probably tell her where to find reviews of sleeping pills so she won’t waste her money anymore because after a while she keeps changing brands. This review site will really help her save money in the long run. I hope she gets past this, I think she gets too dependent on them already.

It Runs in the Family

Posted by girlie on

It runs in the family, both sides. That’s what I always tell my son, but hopefully it’s not gonna happen to him. I’m talking about hair loss. I remember my own brother having thick hair when he was younger. I never thought that he would also have the same problem. I am scared for my son, yes he has thick hair now but what if the same thing will happen to him just like what happened to my brother. I think as early as now I have to look for the best treatment for hair loss for men. I know these treatments work because I’ve seen it. All I can say is that it slows down/control hair loss. Too bad I didn’t know about this treatment, otherwise my brother should not have gone bald. Oh well, it’s not too late for my son.

White V Tee

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket I wrote in my shopping log blog about my Vee Tee purchase. It’s so comfy, it’s simple but it can be made into something beautiful with the right accessories. Well it looks beautiful even if it’s bare. I don’t know but I really love wearing white also more so this time that I’ve seen a lot of people wearing it. I wanted to have my own perfect V tee. Sure I have lotsa white shirts, all of them crew neck. Back to my perfect V tee. I wanted to purchase another V I found at Banana Republic at Rustan’s, but my oh my I couldn’t afford the price, but it’s really nice. I gotta save up for it or I’d probably forget about it anyway I have 4 Hanes tee, yeah that should be it.

It’s the Time of the Year

Posted by girlie on May 27, 2010

Sad but it’s happening. I never imagined this friend of mine would go down the drain. They were really making good. We really do not know what’s going to happen, sometimes we are up there and we wish that we’d remain on top. But somehow there are people who can’t maintain their stature. We were talking about this on our way to the mall. We thought of our friend. Where will they get the money to pay for the tuition fee of their 2 children. I wish they can still avail of unsecured personal loans. They won’t have a hard time with this since this is unsecured meaning it is based on their ability to pay. I’d like to think that they still have the capacity to pay. This loan can help them with their problem because from what I’ve heard, nobody wants to lend money to them anymore. I would understand that since times are really hard now. Probably they too are in that kind of situation, could be even worst. I wouldn’t really be surprised if one day I hear that this friend of mine would also resort to bad credit personal loans. If they don’t take care of their finances and continue living in style, then probably they won’t be able to recover.

Breathe In Fresh Air

Posted by girlie on

Wow! It looks stylish! I want one of that! I bet it would look good in my car. I am talking about a car accesory, which to me at first was just mere decoration, to make my car look cool. Sorry but I am a girl, and sometimes there are things that I don’t know especially when it comes to cars. Well that was before, now I know a bit already. Let me ask you, what are wind deflectors to you? I’m asking the girls first. Common answer would be something like what I had in mind, well except for some probably. But yes, now I know why owners put deflectors. Mine was a window deflector, was because I don’t have it in my car right now. I had it in my previous car and it really looked stylish. Little did I know that there are reasons why the husband decided to put it. For one, it can minimize fogging especially on rainy days. You open the window a bit and notice that no water is going inside, it works like a shield or something. It also helps with air circulation, or when you need fresh air. When you have a wind deflector you don’t get the feeling that you are being blown away. You can open your window anytime and enjoy the air especially when it’s not too hot like probably spring time.

Welcome Me Back Boracay!

Posted by girlie on May 26, 2010

Been to Boracay about four times already and it’s been years that I have not been there. I wonder if the magic is still there. I remember the first time I set foot, I was not impressed at all. I was actually disappointed because I was expecting to see more, based on the stories and all. I was hoping to see something like a paradise, kinda magical. I had to come back to realize that indeed it is beautiful, a paradise in it’s own little way. If given the choice, I would pick the month of November because I want to experience a very calm sea, very few people visit Boracay on this month so there is peace and quiet. Don’t get me wrong, I also love the hustle and bustle come summer time but if I was to pick, surely November would be it. I didn’t pick June, but I’m still going anyway. Welcome me back Bora!!!

I Will Be…44

Posted by girlie on

I’m turning 44 in less than a month, is that even a reason for me to get scared? I am not scared, not at all, a bit worried probably. Hhhmmm so what am I trying to say here? Well, I see the need to be frequenting the page where the best wrinkle cream can be found. I should start early especially now that fine lines are very visible. I see nothing wrong with applying creams and all if only to slow down. To me it’s part of taking care of oneself, not that I am addicted to things like this like it is my life. It’s just that I want to look younger if not I want to look my age at least.

Paperless, Is that even Possible?

Posted by girlie on

Paperless!!! How about that? Well not exactly paperless as in no paper at all but we’re talking about the use of minimal paper. This can be possible only if you have the scanning software most offices have now. This is actually totally new to me because the last time I worked for a Vice President, sheets of paper come and go. There were lots to file, lots to send out and I can just imagine the number of trees that has to be sacrificed in order to have all those papers. Thank God for that someone who invented scanning or everything related to scanning, at least it’s going to be of big help to our environment.

Lu Experience

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket Steak is what my SIL ordered. I didn’t get exactly what kind or what her order was coz I was busy scanning the menu too. What I know is that it tasted good. It was a complete meal with rice and sidings of green salad, onion rings, pickled onions (tasted weird though). It came with 2 slices of tenderloin, one covered with cheese and the other one with the standard salt and pepper, well that was how it tasted.

Photobucket This is what we ordered. We had lunch already so we thought of just sharing. That is a Truffled Mac n Cheese (5 kinds of cheese). Again I didn’t take note of the kinds of cheese they put. It does not taste like the ordinary Mac n Cheese which my daughter was accustomed to, in other words she didn’t like it much. She even blamed it for the headache she had the moment she stepped out of the restaurant, moreso when I told her that truffle is a fungi something pig related, haha. Now I remember farmville here, heh. It tasted ok, but I expected more, well for the price we paid.

Photobucket Apricot Baklava…it’s my first time to have Baklava but I’ve read about it already. Oh so that was how it tasted. I asked the daughter to taste it but she didn’t, maybe she remembered the truffle thingy. I wonder how many layers of paper thin dough were in it, it was about an inch in size, amazing how they prepared it or how people thought about it, well the joys of cooking.

Lu is located somewhere in Rockwell, I don’t frequent the place that much so I can’t really tell the exact location.

Shopping for Auto Insurance

Posted by girlie on

Is it the time of the year? Well I am talking about your renewal of auto insurance. For some it could mean buying it for their newly bought vehicles. I suggest that you first look into these auto insurance quotes so that you will have an idea on the price, the coverage and all. I don’t know if you find it important to have insurance especially in the country where I come from. You see it’s optional to have an insurance here, well we do have TPL but what can that do? We don’t know when accidents can happen, it may or may not happen. It’s best that we are always ready for it especially at this time that everything seems to cause a hole in our pockets.

Lucrative Job

Posted by girlie on May 23, 2010

Seems like majority of the students who graduated this school year have the intention of taking up Nursing in college. I for one wanted my daughter to go into that field. Since she wants to live in the US, I thought that the easiest way is for her to take up Nursing too, just like what the others are doing. Let’s face it, to become a nurse is the stepping stone, one day you will be in the land overflowing with milk and honey. It’s one of the highest paying jobs too, so every parent wishes that their kids go into that field or something related to it. It’s not that hard anymore especially now that there are accredited online nursing degrees. We all know that this is quite an expensive course to take, it would be helpful on the part of us parents since this is going to be online. Distance education could mean less expense in terms of gas money and allowance. It can fit your schedule too. I know many students work now while studying. A lot struggle when it comes to class schedules because sometimes it can cause conflict with work. I have read a lot of stories already from people who are really very thankful that there was such as thing as distance learning because if not for that, they wouldn’t have any degree now.

MMDA Encounter

Posted by girlie on

I was going slow on the intersection of Quezon Blvd. and Araneta Ave. with the intention of making a right turn. I was on the second outermost lane since I was turning. It wasn’t only me, so I was surprised why an MMDA asked me to stop. No, I didn’t stop since in my opinion I didn’t commit any violation. Yes the guy ran after me, he caught me in the traffic light. He was kinda arrogant positioning his motorcycle in front of my car as if I was a criminal. I was even the one who suggested to pull off. He asked for my license. I asked why. Violation, blah, blah, blah. Nope I didn’t commit any I insisted. Give me your license (he was already pissed off at this stage). Again I said no! Imagine what he told me, “ayaw mo ibigay ang lisensya mo, sige pare-wrecker kita.” Ha?

Robbers on the Streets

Posted by girlie on May 22, 2010

Photobucket It’s good that we decided to purchase a truck a few years back. Little did we know that it was going to be a big help to my FIL in his passion, which is building houses. At first we were having second thoughts of putting tonneau covers simply because we didn’t see it’s need back then. It only took us a few months though before we finally went to scout for it. I was surprised that there was a lot to choose from. Our choice was limited to two though, one is this access cover which is a soft roll-up tonneau cover. I really do not remember now how we ended up having roll-n-lock, I think the husband liked the idea of a hard retracting tonneau cover. Whether it’s soft or hard, the idea here is security. I cannot imagine not having it and living in a country that has robbers on loose on the streets. Yeah that’s true, I’ve seen some of them doing it especially when the traffic light turns red or when it’s about to turn green.

Nails in Gradient Purple

Posted by girlie on May 19, 2010

Photobucket Uh oh, my hands are not that dark, nor is it too ugly. Pardon me for the photo, I took it last night without flash so you’d see the gradient purple that I made. I watched a tutorial on youtube and I was so confident that I’d get it right away. But no! It took me 3 tries and having a room that smelled like solvent, no wonder I was high, heh! I had all the things needed, like sponge, eye makeup applicator, 3 shades of purple, the black and white nail art pen. I first painted my nails with the lightest shade, then using a sponge I dabbed 2 more shades the darker one and the darkest. At first I used the eye makeup applicator and it didn’t turn out good. I was forced to get one of my foundation sponges and used it to do the gradient effect. I didn’t intend to put some black flowers, but then it looked boring even if I was successful in creating the gradient look. You can go to youtube and follow some tutorials there on how to make nail art. I assure you, you’ll get addicted to it. DIY nail art is cheaper than having it done in specialty salons.

Summer Fun

Posted by girlie on May 13, 2010

Summer! I love when it’s summer. I can do a lot of activities with my family. This is also the time that kids are off school, so we make the most of it. We did our roadtrip already and everyone had so much fun. I want to go back to the beach so I can wear my terry romper, haha how vain. If I can’t do that, a pool will do. I’m sure the kids will jump with joy if I tell them that I want to go swimming. Yeah why not, it’s too hot anyway, just the perfect thing to do, take a dip in the pool.

My Right to Vote

Posted by girlie on May 11, 2010

Photobucket I woke up early with the intention of being one of the first to vote in our area. But the neighbor told us that the line was long already. I said I’d go after lunch, but then I heard that the election was extended until 7 in the evening. Ok I’ll go at 4 to avoid the heat and the long line. Suddenly it came to mind, what if the machine breaks down, what if the electricity goes off? My vote won’t be counted, that I do not like. I’ve been waiting for this day, I haven’t been voting since 1992 in fact I was not in Comelec’s list anymore. I had to register again. Why should I waste my vote. It’s my right! To whoever wins, I will give my 100 percent support even if he is not the candidate I chose. I hope everyone does that, this is not the time to let someone down.

What’s the Deal?

Posted by girlie on May 10, 2010

I made a deal with my sister, I don’t know if you remember that. Funny is none of us won. Both of us thought of resorting to quick weight loss just to win. We did our best just to lose all the extra pounds that made us look FAT. Success NOT! We lost a little weight actually but when they got here, oh my goodness we kept eating. Good thing we didn’t really gain that much, prolly because it was too hot. On my part I still did my daily routine, so I guess it was just calorie in and out for me, well at least!

Mother’s Day

Posted by girlie on

I got hugs and kisses from the son. I got 2 colors of nail polish and when applied gives a crack effect. Oh yes, my kids are thoughtful and loving. I am just glad that I have taught them well just as how we were all taught.

Here’s how we spent our day. We attended the 10 am worship service at CCF (Megamall), dropped by Animal House to buy chew toys for Pepper (newest member of the family), went to my Mom’s house to have lunch and celebrate Mom’s Day with them and finally dinner at Kimpura in Trinoma to celebrate with the in-laws. Got my fro-yo craving too at Red Mango. See, I am a happy Momma, got everything I wanted, nothing really grand (material). The most important thing to me is that I am loved and respected by my children.

My Acne Days

Posted by girlie on May 8, 2010

I had acne once upon a time and it was really terrible. I can’t bear to look at my face in the mirror. That was how bad it was. I even have a souvenir photo, lol. If only I knew about the best acne treatments back then, I would not have suffered. I could have put a stop to it right away. It could have saved me money. Well it was actually my Dad who paid for my derma treatment. Yep, I went to the dermatologist once a week for 3 months and it took him 6 months to control my acne. It’s a good thing I don’t have scars now, I didn’t pick much on my face at that time.
