Invest in Gold

Posted by girlie on April 30, 2010

A friend is expecting a sum of money, not that huge though but probably enough to buy gold bullion. She mentioned it to me the last time we talked and I suggested for her to find a very good investment. Buying gold is one of her options, I think that is a very good idea. I’ve always been reminded about what my FIL once mentioned whenever I think of a large sum of money. Gold comes to mind automatically. He mentioned that it preserves wealth and eventually preserves purchasing power too. What a wise investment indeed. I will never forget what my father-in-law told me.

Uniquely Mine

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket When SIL asked for the color combination that I wanted, I beg off. Nope I don’t need one right now, we still have around 6 pairs alternately being used by me and my daughter. Nope I don’t have extra money to spend for it too. She insisted and told me that it was an advanced present, my birthday perhaps. I don’t have any idea how much she paid for this design your own havaianas (more like a limited edition), expensive perhaps because it got swarovski crystals on it. Anyway she ended up buying all of us a pair each (4 pairs) and of course we were all happy. We thank you for your generosity to us all the time.

Oh, that pair turns a lot of heads everytime, someone even asked where I bought it.

CAD Drawings…2d or 3d?

Posted by girlie on April 28, 2010

One of the things that I am thankful for is the internet, oh kindly include the computer too. I think everyone has these on their list. It made life easier for me, I mean for all of us. Can you imagine life without computer and internet? Can you imagine doing free hand drawings of designs? It’s a good thing that there is now what you call cad drawing. These are computer aided drawings that can be incorporated in your designs. Cool isn’t it? I wonder what people will say or feel without these now that they are so used to it already.

Is the Family Ready?

Posted by girlie on

Are you scared to talk about death? Is the family ready in case something happens to you like death perhaps? I am not scared talking about death, and yeah I come from a family who’s somewhat ready, I mean in terms of expenses and all when someone dies. When my father died, we didn’t have a problem at all because the funeral cost was already shouldered. He took care of it while he was still alive. It may be morbid for some, but seriously I find it ok. I don’t have a funeral plan at the moment but I am thinking of getting one anyway we are all going there. Oh did I tell you that you can save a lot if you get it while you are still living rather than leave the burden of buying to your family? Think about it.

In the Mail

Posted by girlie on April 27, 2010

Photobucket This is the packet I talked about a month or so already. Yeah finally I got it after paying half of what they (customs) wanted which was way beyond understanding. It was a gift to me by a very dear friend Krisa, please allow me to thank you from the bottom of my heart. All the items included made me smile from ear to ear, oh way past my ears. That was how happy I was/am. I already used the Urban Decay Primer Potion in this photo for my twitter background. The Mac Mineralize Skinfinish is very nice too. I use it to set my Mac foundation. I haven’t tried the Mac e/s and the brushes but will try it soon when I am in the mood for another pictorial.

I’m Fit! er I’d Like to Think So

Posted by girlie on April 23, 2010

Fit! I wanna be fit! That’s what everyone is shouting nowadays, me included! I’m working on it now and hopefully there’s no stopping. I feel good when I workout or do some cardio stuff and I can’t exchange the feeling for anything else. To choose between chillaxing and working out, I’d choose the later. I just wish that I had one of these elliptical machines at home so that on days that I can’t go to the gym to attend my aerobics class I can do it at home. Or if I really want to get serious, I can step on the machine in the mornings, then go to my aerobics class at nights.

Sidekick Owner

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket I am excited. I ordered it from some ebayer and had it mailed to my sister’s address in the US. I don’t want to go through all the trouble again of paying duties that is bigger than the value of the product I’m buying. Why Sidekick LX? My daughter was the first one who discovered that brand in the family. I think she saw it in Gossip Girl. She asked it as a birthday present last year and again I purchased it with some ebayer and had it mailed here. She is liking it so much so I think I’d like it too. The reason why I want it is because very few people here in the Philippines own a Sidekick. I don’t exactly know if it is as bulky as my daughter’s Sidekick, but what the heck, I want to have it, and I am going to have it tonight when my sisters from the US arrive. Yes oh yes!

The Trip to the Derma

Posted by girlie on April 20, 2010

I brought the kids and their cousin to the Dermalotogist last Saturday. It was long overdue. They are suppose to visit her every two weeks but since we were on vacation we passed. Josh’s face was not that bad, but it needed treatment. Ish’s face screams facial! But worst the cousin’s face needed oral acne medication aside from the topical one. I wonder if pronexin was what the dermatologist prescribed for his topical meds. This is the reason why I need to bring the kids on schedule. One week makes a big difference!

Side Effects? Scary!

Posted by girlie on

Uh oh…what is this again. I totally get scared when I read these two words, side effects. Scared because I might have used the product in the past and am using it now only to find out that it’s kinda bad because of it’s side effects. I wonder how those males would feel if they read the enzyte side effects? Man this is scary, we are talking about the “manhood” here and if there’s truth to this claim, my oh my! But at least there is an ongoing warning and I am good with that. It makes me aware whether there is truth to it or none.

Vigan: Last Leg of Roadtrip

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket This is the 3rd time that I’ve been to Vigan. I really love this place and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired visiting this place. It’s probably because I really haven’t explored the place. In the three times that I’ve been there, it’s always at Calle Crisologo we go to. I promised the kids that next time we go back to Vigan, we are going to stay overnight. I promised to bring them to the museum and to give them a tour around the place. They have not seen much just like me, but I am happy that they got to appreciate the place. This is one way of introducing my kids to culture.

Photobucket While in Vigan and very hot at that, my son suggested that we eat “dirty” Vigan Ice Cream. Now if you ask me if there is something special about it just like the bagnet and Vigan Longganisa, my answer is a no. Nothing special in fact it tasted weird, didn’t taste like ice cream at all.

That’s about it, our last leg. We were all tired when we got back to Manila that we went straight to bed after the usual before bed routine. I am sooo looking forward to another roadtrip with the family, to where? I still don’t know yet, probably somewhere South next time.

Is It Scary to Take Diet Pills?

Posted by girlie on

I’ve been talking about how fat I have gotten in the last six months. Have I been whining about it? A lot of times yes. Did I do something about it? Yes, I did. I do aerobics five times a week. The reason why I do fitness as often is because I am scared of the diet pills side effects. I’ve been contemplating on using it really, but when the time comes I usually chicken out. I.Am.Scared! I have heard a lot of stories and I don’t want to end up just like them. Probably when I’m too fat to handle, then that’s the time I will think about it.

Baby Shower Gift Ideas

Posted by girlie on April 16, 2010

Imagine that your wife is pregnant with your second child and you’re planning on throwing her a baby shower because at the first one she received some great gifts like a couple Lovies, a bunch of bibs and even some of those cool trumpette socks, among other things. So you think it would be cool toyou’re your second child the same jump start on necessities that your first child got.
Tubbies, lovies, burp cloths, bibs, blankets and boppy pillows are all things that new babies need to feel comfortable. So are pacifiers and sippy cups. Toys and necessities are great, but everyone seems to give the same thing.
The key is to get creative, fashion baby wash cloths or burp cloths into flowers. Rolling the burp cloth lengthwise, somewhat loosely, will create the look of a rose or flower. Folding the very last corner of the rolled burp cloth end back a little will create a rose petal shape. Making a fold in the middle of the rolled burp cloth makes two flowers. Holding two floral wires against the flowers, floral tape is wrapped around each flower and across the “U” shape of the rolled burp cloth to join the flowers together at the base. This will secure the flowers and floral wire.
Then you can utilize a pair of baby socks to create roses by tightly rolling the socks from the toe. Once you have reached the end of the sock, fold the opening back on itself to create the outer petal of the rosebud. Take care not to cause any damage in this next step, as you insert a piece of floral wire is into the center of the baby sock. Finally, wrap the bottom of the baby sock rosebud with green sticky floral tape to hold the rosebud and wire in place.

Baguio: 2nd Leg of Roadtrip

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket It wasn’t as cold, but colder than Manila’s 38, so I couldn’t complain more. It gets colder though in the early mornings and late evenings. It took us 4 hours to get to Baguio from Bataan (Subic) again via SCTEX (no Noynoy controversy here). Traffic was somewhat heavy because it was a long weekend. You know how it is when it’s a long weekend here in the Philippines, everyone goes to their fave destinations. First thing we did when we got there was to check Ukay-Ukay coz Ish wanted to own a leather jacket. I told her that she wouldn’t be needing it actually so she should not spend a fortune for it (she was considering buying either at Zara or Mango). I was the one who suggested to get it instead in Ukay. Success! But we found it the following day though when we really spent time going through all the stuff, coughing along the way. We got a few things too, she found 2 bags (not branded but pure leather or should I say of good material) and I found a cute bag too (rabeanco) in the color that I really really love. Nope we haven’t worn or used it yet coz we needed to airdry (whatever it’s called) it out in the sun. I think I’d make a separate post for our Ukay finds.

Anyway, Baguio was fun. All we did was walk and eat and sleep. We didn’t bother going around since it was the nth time that we’ve been there. Burnham Park couldn’t be skipped though coz the kids want to go biking, and of course no one misses going to Burnham without riding the boat. Hhhmmm what else did we do? Oh did I mention that we ate? Haha, I gained back the pounds that I lost even if we walked a lot, do I need to tell you why? Dang the good food that MIL fed us.

We enjoyed this once in a lifetime bonding, it does not happen everyday you know. We are all thankful that my MIL thought of bringing us together and have fun. This was her way of celebrating her 68th birthday instead of having a grand celebration. Well this is a grand celebration in itself since she spent a fortune too having 19 persons (drivers and yayas included) in the whole entourage. Fun, fun, fun!

The Port Combination I Need

Posted by girlie on April 13, 2010

We are trying to figure out what we can do to make the whole house a wifi hotspot. We hate wires that dangle, wires on the floor, wires everywhere, not a good sight. I don’t know if this KVM switch is the solution to our problem. Can someone help me with this please? Even if this thing won’t come out really wireless, I think I still need it. I remember my son, he sometimes connects to the internet while playing with his console. Yeah I think that’s it. Hopefully even half of my problem will be solved.

Fat Burners Please…

Posted by girlie on

I’m counting the days til my sisters get here from the US. The last time I saw them was in 2006 when Dad died. I’m very happy that they decided to come home to visit us. It would be wonderful to bond with them. I’m working doubly hard too with my weight loss, I don’t want to lose and treat my sister to Red Crab. If I will have to check these top fat burners just to win, I would! I’ve been doing aerobics almost everyday and there’s very little improvement. I don’t want to miss out on my meals because I know it’s not healthy. Eat less probably and exercise more.

Roadtrip: 1st Leg

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket We went on a roadtrip to celebrate the 68th birthday of my MIL. Instead of having a party, she opted for a vacation instead. First leg of the roadtrip was spent in Anvaya Cove in Bataan. We went there via Subic. It took us about 2.5 hours to get there using SCTEX. We had so much fun, enjoyed the beach and the pool a lot. Dinner was yummy too. Since there was nothing to do there after 10 pm, we decided to go down Subic and have a drink. We went to Lighthouse and there we saw Bro. Mike Velarde. Thought it was ok to have our picture taken. Well it was, but it wasn’t a welcome treat. I greeted him the moment we were beside him, no reaction from him, he didn’t even look at us. Ok maybe he just didn’t hear us. After the shot was taken, I said thank you. Still no reaction from him, he didn’t even look at us. So what do you call that kind of person? Was he born without any social graces? Isn’t he a public figure having led El Shaddai and the representative of a party list? What’s a hello and a you’re welcome? Just three words compared to the long sermon he gives during their services. Hmmm, maybe he was not just taught well.

Great Ideas for the Wedding

Posted by girlie on April 12, 2010

I’m thinking of attending a wedding fair this weekend. I’m not that sure though, but I’d love to. I want to check what’s new in the wedding industry. I miss it terribly. I used to assist Mr. N when he did wedding photography. I wonder what it’s like now. I also want to find out if they use these wedding napkins during the reception. It’s such a wonderful idea, something personalized. I’ve been doing weddings for about 5 years and I have not seen personalized wedding napkins being used.

The Number 1 Optical Shop

Posted by girlie on

Photobucket That’s the design I’ve been looking for. Isn’t it a beauty? I found it at the The #1 online Rx glasses store and I am amazed by the price. It’s unbelievable! No wonder I’ve heard so much about this website that sells really affordable eyeglasses, affordable yet durable I should say. People have spoken. They can’t contain how happy they are. You should take a look at Eric’s Review of Zenni Optical and find out why he has been a client for so long already. It’s the satisfaction that makes him come back whenever he needs glasses. Oh I need glasses too. I’ve been thinking of using progressive glasses already and it’s very timely that they have the Lowest Price Progressive Glasses. Now do I need to look somewhere else? You know the answer to that already.

Off to Tagaytay

Posted by girlie on April 2, 2010

Photobucket We went to Tagaytay yesterday, it was just a random thing. We left around 2 pm and we got there a little before 6 pm. Traffic was terrible because there was a mini fire along Sta. Rosa. Traffic was also terrible in Tagaytay City. It was bumper to bumper probably because there were two churches along the highway and we all know about Visita Iglesia. We had pizza for dinner at Yellow Cab, as usual we had half New York’s Finest with extra anchovies and half Four Cheese for the kids. That is their all time favorite. Suprisingly there were a lot of people having dinner there too. Gone are the days that you almost don’t see anyone in the streets when it’s Holy Week. After dinner we proceeded to Bag of Beans for some coffee. We stayed for a wee bit because traffic was still terrible at that time. I had 2 mugs of Kape Barako and I thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep at all because of caffeine OD. But no, when we got home, I hit the sack right away. I got dizzy or something. Probably I got tired from sitting in the car for almost 6 hours. But all together it was fun spending Holy Thursday with the family. I can’t get enough of the kids’ funny antics especially the comedian in the family.
