Ever since she became a Barangay Captain, we haven’t been really been spending time with each other except for special occasions like birthdays. She’s been very busy and does not even have time for herself anymore. She even wrote in her blog that this is one of the things she had to give up (no choice actually) when she won the seat. Well at least she took time out to spend Dec. 26 with me and my daughter. We had a great time at Teriyaki Boy, our fave restaurant whenever in Greenhills. We didn’t go shopping together this time coz she had to buy gifts for her friends, and I was interested to go to Face Shop . I went with Ish and Queenie though and did the usual thing we do whenever at Face Shop…that is a makeover.
I gifted hubby with that watch some few years back, maybe about 5 years ago. Now it’s my son who is wearing it. They both love it and once in a while the hubs is still using it. I used to wear it too, I just love the size. Sometimes I go for biggie watches, it’s a fashion statement for me. There are a lot more Suunto watches that I’d like you to see. It’s worth buying really. It’s very light and very comfortable to wear.
Part of a stress free vacation is having your ground transfer taken care of. We normally do that on our trips outside the country. We don’t have relatives to fetch us in every destination we go to, tendency is I go online and look for the most affordable ground transfer. So far so good and I have nothing to complain. My daughter will be graduating in High School next school year, and her Dad promised to bring us all to the US again. I feel like I am graduating with honors, LOL. The plan is we go east coast this time. The hubs was not able to go with us to Philly to visit my sisters. He was green with envy when we related our stories when we last visited them in 2005. Now it is in his itinerary, and of course New York too. The kids and I have been to New York, and we’d love to go back and visit the attractions we have missed. Yes, we didn’t see much of New York when we were last there, but I thank God for giving us the opportunity to go see it. It was actually an invitation from a very good friend Guigi. She took us around. Honestly I didn’t enjoy much, it was hard to appreciate having to tag along a 10 year old kid whose concern was just EB games, and he was very lazy to walk. I don’t have a problem with my daughter, since we love the same things. This time, when we get to visit NYC again, I will make sure that it’s gonna be one of the best things in my life. I will be back with a vengeance!!!
If only I live in the USA, I would have been interested in applying for one of these hair salon jobs. Honestly I want to go into the beauty industry, but I don’t think the hubs will permit me, well at least for now. Who knows in the future, he will be convinced that I have the talent, ahem. Meet my second client, the bride. she is actually MIL’s neighbor and she used to work for us too. When my MIL asked me if I can do her makeup on her wedding day, I didn’t hesitate, in fact I was very excited. I’ve been doing my own makeup and that of my daughter for how many years now, and I have become quite confident already. Add to that the video I have been watching time and again over at youtube. Yeah I’ve been watching a lot of makeup tutorials, and I must admit, I learned at lot, from blending to the kinds of tools one must have to achieve a “perfect” makeup. I think I did justice to my bride, and I’m glad she liked it. Oh I was not only the makeup artist that day, I was also the unofficial photographer…coz I used a point and shoot camera ^_^
This is the “adopt an animal” tradition we have on Christmas Day. This is actually the 2nd year only. Last year I adopted a bear and I named her Trixie. This year, I’m adopting a frog and I named her Carrie. I bought her a bling black outfit and I find it cute. Maybe this time I won’t be shopping clothes for them anymore because I’m going to try my hand at knitting clothes for them. ambitious eh? Why not, I think I’m slowly learning, aside from just knit and purl stitches, I can make basic lace designs already. So maybe I can make some baby clothes too. After the holidays, I’m gonna look for a simple pattern to make, and hopefully I will be able to finish it.
My jaw dropped when I saw these designer costume jewelry online. I was like I want this, I want that. Actually I love everything I saw, and if possible I want to have all of them. Yeah I can be crazy at times, who wouldn’t be. Check it out yourself so you will understand why I went gaga over what I saw. It’s very affordable, and if I try to save more, I can get a few pieces. If only I can afford it, I’d love to have this tv stand. This is actually the right time to buy a TV stand, since we have one just lying on the floor. We could make use of it and put it in the guest room. But it would really look funny if I put our old television on top of that TV stand. Aha, maybe we could shift and put it instead in the master’s bedroom. Yeah that would be a good idea. I hope Santa hears me and drops the moolah to buy the TV stand on the doorsteps, anyway I’ve been good this year. Teehee!
We had a very simple Christmas Eve celebration, well compared to the past years. I only prepared chinese ham, 3 kinds of cheeses, baked macaroni, french cookies with strawberry jam, grapes, red wine and spritzer for the kids. Even if it was simple, we still enjoyed the conversation at the table. I didn’t drink much either, just a glass of wine probably because I was very tired. I made 16 loaves of banana bread to be given away to relatives on both sides on Christmas day. I wanted it freshly baked so I did it on the 24th.
We visited the ILs for lunch, then proceeded to my side of the family at 3 pm for early dinner. It’s wonderful to be spending time with the family on Christmas Day. We get to see our loved ones, it was like a reunion.
After dinner, we proceeded to Trinoma for our yearly movie tradition, that is to watch a Vic Sotto film. Too bad the cinema was full, yep every seat was taken can you believe that? We were able to do our other Christmas tradition which is to adopt an “animal”. Will tell you more about it in another entry.

Since I took over the kitchen a year ago, I’ve been doing a lot of experimenting when it comes to cooking. The family is not contented with the repetitive menu (haha, who would be), so I have to find and learn how to do new recipes all the time. I have included a lot of healthy grilling recipes in my planned menus aside from the deep frying, steaming, sautee(ing) and a lot more. I found out that the family enjoys my grilling expertise, haha I’m just kidding since I am still a novice when it comes to the kitchen. But I’d like too think I am getting there…an experienced chef that is, teehee!
I guess everyone of us wants to look young forever, young in the sense that we don’t want to look our age. Well, there are now different approaches to make that possible. For one, I heard that botox does a very good job. My cousin had hers already, and I think it’s ok. She had her botox injection done I think early this year. We decided to bring the household help in Tagaytay, a christmas celebration of sorts. Traffic was terrible, but it was worth it. Everybody had fun. We had dinner at Dencio’s (I like the food better at Gerry’s Grill though). We were hoping to eat at Gerry’s, but I think there was none there. My son even said, why do we need to go all the way to Tagaytay to have dinner at Gerry’s when in fact there’s Gerry’s like 5 minutes away from our place. I told him we’d like the girls to experience the breeze, and he was like, it’s cold at Gerry’s you know, there’s A/C. Haha yeah right, I know you don’t like your gaming interrupted. Oh well, good thing we all had fun, especially when we had coffee at Java Jazz. Whenever we go to Tagaytay, we always make it a point to drop by that place.
New York City! I bet everyone wants to see this place. I for one have been dreaming of going there. Luckily I was able to, and yes with my two kids. Too bad the hubs was not able to come with us because of work. But he promised to bring us again when we visit the States in probably 2 years. Oh make that one and a half. Haha do you feel the excitement? Good thing my sisters stay in the east coast and very near New York City at that. All we need to do is hire one of the best New York Bus Charters. They offer transportation for groups of any size. They have vehicles that can accommodate 9 to 50 plus persons, and they can bring you to any destination. You can even customize your itinerary with the help of their travel consultants. This way you won’t miss out on all the scenic places there is to visit. Not only that, if you wish to visit some of the neighboring States, you can do that too. Exciting, isn’t it? I bet the kids will suggest a Theme Park Day. We actually have not been to any theme parks in the east coast, so this will be a great opportunity since they offer one day tours to multi day tours. I also heard that they have very accommodating and courteous staff and not only that, all their vehicles are well maintained.
Who says there are no available Travel Nursing Jobs around? I heard that from my brother yesterday when we saw each other. Apparently his friend told him that there are no nursing jobs available. I hope his friend reads this entry of mine, so he can find a job he wants to go into. Too bad people often listen to hearsay. It’s either they get frustrated or lose hope. Hear this people, there are a lot of nurse related jobs out there. It’s waiting for you, choose from the 50 states nearest you and start enjoying the high pay it offers. What’s nice about this is you get the chance to work in your favorite place, a place close to your heart. If you happen to love Philadelphia or any of the 50 states for that matter, there is a nursing job available for you there. And here’s something that awaits you. How about a free private housing accommodation? Yeah, you read it right, they offer free accommodations and a lot more. When it comes to the salary, expect the highest salary and unbelievable benefits. I even heard that nurses even earn more. Ah no wonder, a lot of graduating high school students want to go into this field. I even know of some people who study nursing as their second course because of the lucrative salary this field has to offer. Would you believe that there are licensed doctors too who want to become nurses, well I speak for my country only. I know a couple of people who took up nursing even if they were doing well here as doctors.
Really been busy preparing for the holidays. I wasn’t as busy last year, probably because I started preparing in November, you know buying gifts and all. But this year, seems like I’ve been harassed preparing for it. Maybe it’s because of a prior celebration (in-laws’ church wedding) which I had my full hands on. Shopping for the holidays was put aside. Preparing for the holidays is beginning to be a burden, yeah I know I shouldn’t be saying that, but with all the traffic (car and human) I’ve been experiencing lately, it can be draining. I don’t have a menu yet for the noche buena, but I know I can get by with all these. We will be going to Tagaytay a lil later, I need a break! It would be wonderful to experience a different kind of breeze.
If someone asks you what gift you want to receive this Christmas, what would your answer be? Sometimes it’s hard to tell people what you really want, but in my case I tell them what I want. Normally is something that I would need. I’d rather receive a gift that I can make use of, rather than receiving something that would just collect dusts. Let’s face it, there are just presents that are not that useful. I hate to think that this person is giving just for the sake of giving. Not that I am not thankful, it’s just that I find it a waste of money. If you run out of gift ideas to give to a person or to your clients maybe, I suggest that you give this personalized holiday gifts. This I’m sure will be put to good use. I love receiving personalized gifts, because it makes me feel important. It’s like this person really went out of his way to get me something. Sayang walang live na karoling, pano ba naman walang gustong mangaroling sa bahay namin, kasi di sila maririnig at di rin mapapansin. Hindi concentration camp ang bahay namin ha, pero sa iilang butas lamang makikita kung anong nangyayari sa labas. Haha mala concentration camp yata. Kaya eto, yang mga anghel na decor na lamang ang aking lahok, itsurang kumakanta naman sila ng christmas carols di ba?
Makakakuha na sana ako ng litrato ng mga batang nangangaroling sa mall na iyan (Shangri-la Mall), pero eksakto naman ng makababa ako sa unang palapag, sya naman nagpalakpakan ang mga tao, exit na ang mga bata, sayang, sana tinakbo ko nalang pababa kesa sumakay ako ng escalator. Nasa 5th floor nga pala ako nung narinig kong may nagkakanta ng christmas carols.

I have often wondered what really causes it since I have a friend who has a sister who is suffering from cerebral palsy. I didn’t have the chance to ask her really. Now that I found out that it can be due to medical malpractice, let me share with you that there are medical and legal professionals who can help you evaluate the situation. We celebrated J’s 13th birthday on Sunday upon the request of the in-laws. Initially he wanted it done in Friday’s, but since the old folks didn’t like it there, we went to a chinese restaurant instead. We feasted on all his favorite food, crabs and peking duck included. Or should I say my favorite food, with fried pigeon as bonus ^_^. He doesn’t want to have his photos taken, but since it was his birthday, I took the opportunity to take some, telling him that he should have a least some photos on his 13th birthday.

Ok, wish granted. We surprised him by going to Friday’s when they got home from school. He was the one who ordered (feeling like a real grown up man), and I allowed him to eat anything, including the Cs (chocolate and coke) that his doctor does not allow him to have. It’s his birthday anyway.
Of course his birthday will not be complete without playing in Timezone. Again we allowed him to stay up late, it’s his birthday!

Darling Doll asked me to buy a headband she can use one time. She showed me a picutre of “Serena” (Gossip Girl) and she goes, “Mom this is the hair I want on Mama’s Wedding.” Oh ok I told her. Good thing we found a headpiece we could use for the hairdo she desired.

When you ask my kids what they remember most about our US trip, Las Vegas would always be on top of their list. Well, I will never forget it either.
