Something New

Posted by girlie on April 16, 2008

Photobucket This is harder than I thought. Yes I am used to doing projects as you can see, but this is totally different. The hook is way too big compared to the ones I use. And it does not help that instead of using thread, I used yarn this time. Oh well, I should get used to it if I want to make other projects. I have to learn more about crocheting using yarn, like buying the right kind of yarn and hook. Any tips Jen?

I guess it is different if you’re used to threads and smaller hooks. I was also warned that it would feel different for me (working with threads and steel hooks/smaller hooks) because I’m used to bigger hooks and yarn.

There are many projects that you can use the US G-6 for, working with yarn. As for your question on my blog about why your yarn feels stiff, I’m not sure what to answer to that. Red Heart is 100% acrylic and shouldn’t really be all that stiff. I’m guessing that nanibago ka lang. (pero meron din talagang yarn na acrylic na medyo matigas; I have two in my stash) It will help make it slide a little easier in your hands if you moisturize.

Do you want to try a placemat? I found a pattern that uses the G-6. I’ll paste the pattern here in case you want to try it. May edging siya in a different color but I think for practice you could continue the edging using the same color.
