Audio Books for Ish

Posted by girlie on December 3, 2007

I know of a person who will patronize Audio Books. And she’s no other than my daughter Ish. I don’t think she has heard of it for now, but eventually she will. She would start bugging me I know, because I have really been supportive to her love for reading. This would be something new and she will learn a lot especially in the pronunciation of words, and reading properly. She will benefit from this and this will help her more in her speech class. I just hope that her love for reading will continue.  Oh by the way, if you’ve been wanting to read a title that you can no longer find in the bookstore, you might just have your luck to find it also in this same website.

I found this one via Learn Out Loud: a 14-hour recording from Literal Systems of one of Dickens’ best known works, A Tale of Two Cities. I’ve always thought Charles Dickens was a bit underappreciated these days. His work remains quite accessible to a modern reader, and he has a fine soap opera-ish sense of the dramatic which veers into sensationalist melodrama quite often. Had he been writing today, he would have found a home in Hollywood, or cranking out genre thrillers or romances :) Check out the e-text too at Gutenberg or Many Books.

There is good news for audio book lovers. Being an audio book fan I come across a literary sensation book Possession which won the Booker prize. This is an exhilarating novel of wit and romance. Get your copy at ”Audio Books”.
