Discipline

This is a very interesting tag passed on to me by the Mother of QQ. She wants to know whether I still use a cane to discipline my teenagers.

I remember spanking my kids when they were still young. It’s either using the slippers, a belt or my bare hand. It was mostly my hand that I used though. Nope, I didn’t have second thoughts of using the “rod” especially if they don’t obey orders and rules in the house. Of course I will have to talk to them first and warn them, and if they ignore me, that’s the time I “hit” them. But now that they’ve blossomed into teenagers, it’s pretty hard. All I do is talk to them and if I get frustrated, I shout/scream! After which I ground them for a day, depending on what they did wrong. When my son does something wrong, I keep all his “toys” (laptop, gamecube, ps, ps1, ps2, psp, nintendo wii, nintendo ds and gameboy). As for my daughter I think I will confiscate her cellphone and iPod. In other words, I will take away their “life”.

A few years back, I was really a great spender. I think it goes with age. I was young and really didn’t think much. Not that I spent every single penny I can get hold of, but it was more like I was not wise enough on my decisions.

But now I am proud to say that I am no longer that way. Again it goes with age, haha. As we age, we get wiser and wiser, right? Even when it comes to making a decision on acquiring loans. No Offense Meant

“No offense meant for Moms”, he said.  He was referring to mothers who did rice porridge for the first time but didn’t quite get it.  Lately my son has been eating chicken arroz caldo (rice porridge) in school.  He requested me to cook my version of rice porridge.  Well it’s not actually my own version but that of the internet and recipe book.  I too did not have an idea on how to make a rice porridge although my Mom has been feeding us with that when we were still young.  I searched and searched and found one in the internet and incorporated it with the one in the recipe book.  They all loved it!

Ingredients:

10 pcs. chicken (drumstick)
7 cups chicken stock
1 1/2 cups uncooked rice
  garlic (finely minced)
  onions
  ginger (match sized)
  knorr chicken cube
  olive oil
  patis (fish sauce)
  black pepper

Procedure:
Saute ginger, onion and garlic in olive oil and season with black pepper. Include chicken cube (I didn’t have enough chicken stock) and patis (fish sauce). Put the chicken and cook until it’s half done. Set aside the chicken. Put the uncooked rice and mix it with the flavor coming from the ginger, onion and garlic. Pour chicken stock and put back the chicken. Wait til rice softens stirring occasionally. Add more patis according to taste.

If you noticed, there’s not much activity happening over here at my dot com. I’m in the process of shifting to another webhost. I’m no longer happy with my existing one, since it’s been down a lot lately. Never mind that I paid my hosting with them until January of next year.

Now I’m looking forward to my new webhost. Their tech support guy Marlon is really a great help. I asked for assistance in the transfer since I am pretty clueless on how to do it. He was able to back up everything and my dot com is working fine over at a temporary site. Nothing was erased thank God. He didn’t give me a full assurance that nothing will be erased but he said he’ll try his best and he did! Thanks Marlon. Now I’m just waiting for the transfer for me to start writing again there. He advised me not to have any writing activity until the effect of the transfer. I hope it won’t take that long ^_^

Update: It did not take that long, goodbye old webhost! Thanks for the help too KC, as usual she is always to my rescue.

RC Car for Josh

I noticed lately that my son Josh is interested in Remote Control Cars. Every time we pass by this shop selling those RC cars, he would really stop and watch the demo being done. And do you know what is to follow? He will give us this begging look on his face. But before I buy him one of those Nitro RC Cars, I’d like him to visit everything-rc-cars.com. He actually does not know a thing about it but is just fascinated how fast it can go. You know how boys are. I’ll let him watch a video in this site and hopefully he will know everything about remote control cars and RC Trucks.

  I just accompanied N to the mall this afternoon to buy a cellphone.  I’ve been eyeing this unit (Motorolla V3i)  since Saturday when I accompanied a friend also to scout for a new unit.  We were supposed to buy it on the 30th, but since I was already at the mall today, I decided to buy it instead.  When I was about to pay for it, N said that he’ll get it for me and that would be his early christmas present.  Darn!  Had I known, I should have chosen the Motorolla V8 instead…lol.  I’m happy with my latest toy, nah it’s not expensive and I got it at a really good deal.  It’s sleek and a challenge too, it’s totally different from the 2 units that I use.  Hhhmmm, it’s a matter of getting used to the new navigation, I’m not too old to learn, but it’s mentally challenging, haha, just kidding!

I need Ear Plugs

Do you get bothered when you hear loud sounds coming from whatever? I do, and I get annoyed most of the time. But I cannot do anything about it. Do you think they will listen to you when you give them a stare short of telling them, will you please turn down the volume? Well instead of stressing it out, I think I need to find a way like maybe get Hearing Protection? Yeah that’s it! Why would I suffer from the effect of it. Do you know that it can cause a permanent damage to your hearing? Well before that happens, let us all do something about it.

I think I will be needing travel ear plugs too. I hate the ear popping and ear pressure I feel whenever I take the plane. Imagine yourself seated in an airplane travelling like almost a day. Isn’t it disturbing? When you use ear plugs, it will make your flight more comfortable and of course quieter.

Haha, I need this too. If I can’t stop my husband from snoring, then I need ear plugs for snoring, it’s about time to block and noise and have a good night’s rest. Agree?

There was a time when Ish and I went gaga over military clothing. We bought a camouflage tee, skirt and pants, and up until now, we still get to wear it. I also bought a camouflage shirt for Josh. I don’t really mind buying a pre-owned rolex watch. As long as I know it’s authentic then why not! I consider it smart buying, since I can save a lot. But of course I will be buying it from a reputable company, a company that offers only the highest quality merchandise.

If given the choice, I’d rather own an estate jewelry. I don’t know, but I’m quite fascinated with old pieces. I remember my father-in-law mention one time, that jewelries made in the past are really of good quality. They have better stones. I also like the antique look of an estate jewelry.

Christmas Spirit

Oh yes!  I’m finally done with the tree.  I am quite late in setting it up, I was waiting for my daughter Ish to help me put the trimmings.  I don’t know why we haven’t done in in the past weekends, aaahh we were always out and by the time we got home we were dead tired already.  So one afternoon, I took the liberty to decorate the tree with the help of my “angels”.  I actually find the trimmings boring already since I’ve had it for the last 4 years I think.  Hopefully next year, I will be able to change the theme and probably change my tree too.  Well let’s see ^_^

Yankees Spring Training Tickets

My friend J is an avid fan of the New York Yankees, and if it’s possible he wants to watch all the games of his favorite team. It’s really funny because when we get to talk, he will never forget to mention the Yankees and he sounds pretty excited every time he talks about them. I asked him if he’s already excited to watch them in April, and he said yes in fact he was able to purchase New York Yankees Spring Training tickets for him and his girlfriend. I really understand why he wants to watch the games live and at the ballpark. When we were in the US, we were fortunate to have watched a game and it was really exciting. It’s totally different when you watch it at the ballpark. I was amazed by the crowd’s excitement. Even my son joined the crowd in cheering for their favorite teams, to think it was his first time to watch a baseball match. I learned too from a friend that it’s really hard to buy prime seat tickets, but at teamonetickets.com it’s always available. Waaaaaahhhhh!  I need to put something on my sidebar but I can’t.  I can’t find the update button.  All I see is “if files were writable then you can edit it”.  Oly Guacamole, what’s happening?  Please tell me!  I did everything from editing the index.php but it did not change.  I’m quite frustrated already!  I just updated my theme like 3 days ago and it was working fine, now its waaaaahhhhhh!  I need your help badly please.  Whoever can shed light on this, I’d be very happy and thankful.  Please don’t play tricks on me, I’ve been working hard you know, and I don’t have any “brains” left to try and figure out what is wrong!
